Ebay to me has been one of the top places in which to sell anything from... and I mean ANYTHING...
As both a buyer and a seller, I have taken into account the ups and downs of Ebay over the years...Selling:
As a seller, it is very dependant on how much you want to sell and in what time span. Not forgetting the actual product. Ebay has many advantages as a seller...- Wide market: There is a massive market in which to sell your products to on Ebay. You can literally sell anything (as long as it is legal) and at the price you want. Although obviously if your pricing is wrong, you will get reduced sales. This wide market give you potentially a larger customer threshold. Ebay makes this easier and faster to do.
- Linking to your website and shop: You can make an online shop, or link Ebay to your website, as well as your genuine shop on the ground. This further increases the potential of sales and a larger customer market.- Marketing: It is very easy to market on Ebay, due to the use of fonts, colours and pictures etc... but mainly it is about the information that you can put onto the listing to create customer loyalty and reputation etc. Ebay works really well for this.
- Ease of payment transactions and communication: This is one of the vital parts to business is communication with the customer and developing reputation and trust etc. Ultimately you want good buyers to pay quickly, and actually pay in the first place. Paypal has been set up nicely with dealing with this, and has set up a 'problem resolution' area to end disputes etc.- Cost: In terms of pictures and listing (based on 99p listing and 1 picture), you can add a lot of information about the product, and a picture, for minimal cost. Many businesses have been successful for their marketing and the low costs...
However,- Costs on Ebay have been on the increase, insertion fees, and end of sale fees etc. The actual costs of products in some sectors has increased over the years, due to postage prices increasing and the general market trend etc.
Ultimately...Ebay is undoubtedly a good place to look into as a seller, both small and large scale. Try starting small and working up the scale, to get a taster if you are new to it.
Hope this has helped :)

Ebay is great but is getting worse, it's not just me who thinks that, lots of people seem to get ripped off. I've sold about 15 things in the past month, 6 things of which payment was never received so had to re-list items again. Good review.
