Started using Ebay to look for hard to find Biggles books. (a relative collects these). It was great as I found some first edition ones that she was willing to pay a set amount for and I managed to get them for less than that. Then it was my turn X-Files and Star Wars stuff - fantastic. What fun this is.
I think the site is great as it lets you search for items put up for auction that you can not easily get in the stores. You must read descriptions carefully though and know what you want. Sometimes you may only want a first edition - look for this in the description. Not there - don't buy. You can also look up a persons history on the site. Good or bad recommendations are all there - whether their service was quick (or not), whether descriptions were accurate, etc.
Be warned though, it can be addictive and you must know your limit.
I have only just recently put something up for auction on my own. You can put in your minimum acceptable bid and the bid runs for the length you specify.
All in all the site is a good one. I'll keep using it, when I can get my husband off it so I can have a look!
