This IS the new 'ebay'.

Many years ago, I discovered ebay and quickly became a devotee, having several times created and deleted accounts for one reason or another. Over my time on there I became more and more disgruntled with it. This is due, partly because of the new meanness of the buyers who seem to no longer delight in getting a bargain at a good low price, but who now seem to have devised buying strategies which include, watching an item until its last seconds and only then placing a bid thus ensuring that they only pay the starting price.

All very well if you are a buyer, but if you are hoping to sell and make some pocket money or holiday funds, which people on low incomes sometimes have to resort to, then its a very different story.

By the time the site has deducted its fees and paypal (if chosen as a method of payment) take theirs, the money one has made quickly reduces.

This latest fee raising ( planned soon) lead me to look else where.

I put my search into google and found EBID on a comparison site.

According to this site EBID is the 2nd largest site in the world and is fast growing.

So off I went to look into it more closely.

The first delightful this about Ebid is that it is completely free to join, list and sell, and obviously buy.

This is a welcome benefit and encourages new sellers to 'give it a go'.knowing full well that it wont cost to do so.

It offers most of the same sellers tools as the other site, however, the photo displays are larger and clearer, giver a potential buyer a better quality view of the items they are interested in.

Ebid offers quite a few on line payment schemes including paypal and pppay etc.

On good thing this site offers that Ebay does not, is the facility to list items with automatic relists and, this is the really good part the auctions DO NOT begin until the FIRST BID is placed. Of course this means that the seller has lost nothing and can leave the auction up and running without the worry of it running out of time and wasting money.

another feature which I quite like is the forum section. Here members have general chats, discuss selling / buying related topics and many more. all in all it is a very friendly site.
The are many sellers in the Uk and also world wide.
However the largest minus point is that Ebid is still awaiting the great public discovery that Ebay had back in its early days, and so there are not so many items for sale, and whereas with Ebay a search generally produces whatever you are looking for, Ebid does not always find it.

The biggest bonus of all is that things can still be bought very cheaply without the seller losing too much of his profits through selling fees. the seller is charged a small percentage when a sale is made.

Another up and coming auction site worthy of a mention is called 'mums making money off the net' a very new and very small but beautifully formed site aimed mostly at mums, offering low fees, and many other fantastic offers. Again there is a very friendly forum. any mum wanting to communicate with other mums and learn how to make more money would do well to join this site too.

However, getting back to Ebid, I recommend it as the new selling place to be and urge you to give it a try. after all what have you got to lose? Nothing!
