Experience: 1) While traveling in Europe, tried to book last-minute air and hotel on-line. Noticed that if I remained in the language of host server, (i.e. in Germany, kept in German) I got one price, however, if I clicked on the same page for an English translation, the prices were higher. When i noticed this, I moved to a different computer at a internet cafe to make sure I wasn't being affected by some cookie and noticed the same thing, so did transaction in host country language.
2) While booking hotel reservations, ended up being triple booked for a room. When I called e-dreams to resolve the situation, first they couldn't find my reservations, then they claimed that I had booked it through their competitor. If I called the on-line section, the agent could only see 2 of the 3 bookings, if I called central reservation they could only see 1 altogether different reservation. Finally after calling back no less than 20 times, over the course of 3 days and running up my phone bill, I was able to resolve the situation only by dividing and conquering. Eventually avoided trying to explain the whole situation and just cancelled extraneous reservations going between two different agents. It got so bad, that I felt that I spoke to everyone who could speak in the two languages I knew. My phone calls to them to resolve the issue amounted to nearly 100 euros.
3) Although one would think that booking over the internet you could do it over 24 hours, this is not the case with last minute travel reservations at least with e-dreams. You can only book last minute travel in talking directly to an agent, and the agents only seem to be available between for normal business hours. So after business hours/ early hour flight booking is essentially a wash. Although this is a minor issue, you waste a lot of time trying to book online only to get an unclear message saying that we were not able to book your travel that gives you the impression that your credit card is not working. Situation: Assuming I would miss my flight due to getting delayed by a car accident on the highway, and I called ahead to e-dreams around 8 pm for a 10 pm flight to no avail. Ended up calling the airport directly, to deal with the carrier. Later after missing the flight, booked last minute travel on-line, after midnight, with another carrier with similar e-dreams prices to get to my destination which was by far a walk in the park compared to my horrific e-dreams experience.
4) When I talked directly with e-dreams to tell them of my issues, and concerns with the pricing, they would not accept any responsibility and instead got very defensive and antagonistic. Trying to speak sense with them was a waste of time and money, especially in this time of the weak US dollar.
Advantages: Your Own Personal Rep. Disadvantages: None
I discovered the website edreams via a link from Lycos. Originally I just played their passport competition but then decided to actually investigate the site.
The most noticeable thing about this site is that there are onsite reporters. So, if for instance you want to go to Mexico you can e-mail the Mexican rep. and get all the info. you require.
I wanted some information on which were the best hotels for a family of five in Florida and within ... ...rep. that actually lives in Florida. She advised me the best places to go and those to avoid ! She also explained some of the American terminolgy for bedroom and bed sizes so that we could book what we actually wanted. She explained that five people posed a bit of a booking nightmare but that she would check out some places and get back to me, and this she did.
I felt that she was actually looking after my interests and on the strength of her recommendations ...

Advantages: none Disadvantages: extremely slow to deliver. poor customer service
Worst experience ever with any travel website. First off, after purchasing my tickets on their site. They sent me an email requesting copies of credit card and passport for verification reason. After I faxed them over, it took them forever to respond. And they needed me to refax the documents which I did right away and sent them an email to confirm. Then after that, no response! I called three days later, and they told me they received my fax but ...

Advantages: Sometimes able to find a cheap fare Disadvantages: HORRIBLE customer service; DECEPTIVE pricing which varies among the language you select
Upon booking a flight ticket on eDreams, I received a message confirming my reservation but also stating that there was a problem with my credit card. The message went on to say that either: (a) the payment would process and I would receive my flight ticket -or- (b) I would receive an email stating how to fix the problem with my credit card. Having noticed that eDreams is only open during normal business hours, I decided to call the company the evening ... ...The lady who answered was very short with me when she told me not to worry about anything and my problem would be "taken care of" by someone who would call me later. The next morning I still hadn't heard from eDreams but decided to go to the airport to catch my flight. I was only somewhat shocked when the assistant at the ticket counter told me that I didn't have ticket. Being that it was 8:00am Eastern European Time, I was unable to contact eDreams. ...

Advantages: None. Disadvantages: TERRIBLE customer service. The company took 300 euros and will not help me get it back.
I tried unsuccessfully to book a flight with edreams. Customer service told me my transaction could not be completed because my debit card would not go through. Thus, no flight was booked. HOWEVER, Edreams still deducted 300 euros from my account which was not the price of the ticket I tried to purchase. I tried to purchase a ticket for 120 euros and they charged me 300. Now I am left with 300 euros missing and no flight!
On top of all this, you ...
