Full review
Now i know what your thinking when you start to read this, it must be a dear price because of the title, but its not, its just a terrible machine. First of all, you need to know the price, £399.99. Now that doesn't sound like a bad price nowadays for a P.C., but it is when you buy a Emachines 2210. About a year ago now i felt that i had enough money to update my personal computer that i have at my home. I was willing to spend around about £500 but i also wanted a printer. I was told by a friend to shop at P.C. because they had a sale on at that perticular time and i could probably get what i wanted.

****** What I Wanted ******

- I wanted a computer that would be able to play all the top games at the time, for example Doom 3 and Half Life 2. I wanted it to be able to store quite alot of music and other files, for example word documents. And finaly i wanted it to be relatively fast, so i didn't get frustrated with the speed.

****** What The 2210 Has ******

Intel Celeron 2.6GHz
128Mb DDR RAM
40Gb hard drive
CD Rewriter drive
32Mb Shared graphics
6 x USB connections
Microsoft Works 6.0
Microsoft Money 2003
Windows XP Home
Monitor: 17" CRT

Therefore, i felt that it was quite fast, especialy compared to my previous computer. I felt that there was more than enough space, 40gig which could hold like 10,000 songs, and again considering my previous computer was like 2gig. And also i was told by the person who sold me it, in P.C. world, that it was capable of having both Doom 3 and Half Life 2 installed on it at the same time, so i was more than happy considering it was £100 under my budget.

****** The disappointments ******

Firstly, when i got the box home and opened it, the screen was damaged and therefore had to take it back and get another one. Secondly, once i had set it all up and then tried to install Half Life 2, i found many problems. One was that the graphics card was not as good as it had to be, another was that once i had eventualy installed it but had to turn down the resolution, the game was jumping around. On top of this, when i bought Doom 3 and tried to install it, it would not allow me. Lastly, the picture quality on the crt screen was very poor, maybe even worse than my last P.C.

****** Its Setup ******

The only upside to the whole thing was that the setup for the computer was very easy, simple and quick which is always an upside because its the first thing you do. The manual that comes with it is very easy to understand.

****** The Software Installed and P.C. World ******

- Microsoft Works 6.0
- Microsoft Money 2003
- Windows XP Home

The only good thing out of these is XP Home Edition realy because i didn't and many others wouldn't need to use the other two. - P.C. World were very helpful, although there salesman lied and told me that the P.C. could take the games. When the monitor borke they were very co-operative when sorting out a new one.
