Envirofone.com

What is Envirofone?

Envirofone is a website where you can go to recycle your old mobile phones. You know what it’s like, you update your phone every two years or so, and end up with old mobile phones sitting around your house, usually given to the kids to play with, or just shoved in a drawer and forgotten about, even though usually the phones still work and you still have the charger and battery for it, but there is nobody who wants to use the phone or need the phone.

That’s where Envirofone come in, you can go to their website www.envirofone.com, and simply type in the make and model of your phone, and it will come up with a list of phones and you just need to find yours. A price will come up at the side what you can get UP TO for your phone, but this is NOT a definite price and you won’t find out what this price is until you send your phone off, as it all depends on how well the phone works. They encourage you to send back the charger and box but this does not affect the price you get for the phone, i.e. the price doesn’t go down without the charger and box, and doesn’t go up with it, just makes it easier for them to sell on should the phone be in working order and also means they can get rid of them for you too!

Envirofone then recycles your old phone, whether it be to refurbish the phone and sell it on to be used again, or stripping the phone down to its component parts and sold off to be used again rather than been thrown into a landfill.

You simply send your phone to Envirofone FREE of charge, to the freepost address; every phone has to pass the companies Terms and Conditions which can be seen here: http://www.envirofone.com/terms-and-conditions/, and then they decide on how much payment you will receive.

Will they take my damaged Mobile?
YES! Envirofone will take any mobile from you, but please beware you will get less money for damaged mobile phones, but you can get up to 70% of the full price, depending on how damaged the phone is, if it is unusable, you aren’t likely to get much money at all, but more money than you are getting with it sitting in your cupboard!

How long do I have to decide what I’m going to do?
Once you have sent your phone, you should receive your offer within 5 days, this will come via email, after this you can either accept or reject the offer. Meaning if you accept you will get a cheque in the post, if you reject, you get your phone back to try elsewhere.
If after Envirofone have offered you a price, you don’t get back to them, after 5 days, the offer is accepted on your behalf and you will get the cheque for the amount offered, so beware if you’re not happy with the offer, get back to them asap!
What will I get for my Phone?

As I have said this all depends on what the phone is, how old it is and in what working order it is in! You can get up to £200 for your phone, but some phones are worth more, though these are very unlikely to be given to Envirofone been the brand new Apple iPhone 3G S 32GB which is worth £262! Some phones are only worth £1, whilst most phones are worth between around £10 and £80.

The phone I have at present, Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition would get me £89.99, but as the phone is actually worth £189 in the shops, you are losing out on £100 if you have only just bought the phone and paid the full price!

There are so many phones which are on the list it would be very difficult to put them all on here for you to see what your phone would be worth, but here are 5 randomly chosen phones and what they are worth on Envirofone.
  • Motorola Razr 2 V8- £29.14
  • Nokia N81 - £65.10
  • Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220- £44.06
  • Apple iPhone 4GB- £48.06
  • Sony Ericsson W200i- £4.82

You can go on and search very easily for your own phone! And I definitely recommend you doing so, you may be in for a surprise!
Speed of Service

Once you send your phone, it takes Envirofone around 5 days to get back to you with an offer, then up to another 5 days for you accept the offer. Envirofone then endeavour to get you your money within 7 days, which you can have in either Cheque, PayPal payment or Argos vouchers, you can also choose to give the money to a charity of your choice, or a percentage of the money to a charity of your choice, of course there is no obligation to do so!

So all in all it takes around 3 weeks from you sending your phone to getting payment, but of course this can take longer, or be quicker depending on the time of year etc!

Layout/Design of Website & Navigation

The website is laid out in a very easy to use way, everything is laid out in clear view, and you can easily find what you’re looking for, with the search engine been very fast and easy to use for all, you can get an average price for your phone in seconds, and it can all be done online, printing out the Freepost label and sticking it to the parcel containing your phone!

The site is very appealing to the eye and has been very well designed, to make it appealing to people who may be visiting the site! And will make them want to use it!

Overall Service

The service is great and a great way to get rid of old phones which you may not need or use anymore. But the service isn’t so good If you have bought a phone which you don’t like and you want your money back, but the shop won’t refund you. You will not make back the money which you spent on the phone by no means, but if you have an old phone which you no longer want or need, then it’s a great way to make a little extra money and also to help save the environment as your not throwing the phones into a landfill and are putting them to good use!
The site is a great idea, and one of the best Mobile Phone recycling sites out there!

9/10 for the Envirofone service!

This site would be no good for me. I tend to keep my phones for years, in fact I would still be using my phone that was over 5 years old if my husband had not bought me a samsung tocca for my birthday although I would be willing to sell that phone as I hate it but I don't think hubby would be too pleased.
