Tesco Tomato Puree Having a tube of this tomato puree in the cupboard is a complete must for me as it really is so very useful. I have recently found out that it is a wonderful thing to spread on to a crackerbread in place of cheese spread and therefore I probably have been using it more than I normally would. The Tesco Tomato Puree comes in a tube which contains 200 grams of the product. It costs nearly 50 pence and is cheaper than buying a branded version of the puree. The product itself is basically a double concentrated tomato like paste. The tube is made from a bendy type of metal and has ... more

Tesco Tomato Puree Tube I like to make my own pizza's and also spaggetti bolognaise and the best thing to use is Tesco Tomato Puree Tube to get a good full flavour of tomatoes into your recipes. The tubes of tomatoe purree can be bought for 45p and they will last you quite a while as you only need a small amount to add flavouring to your spaggetti bolognaise or on your pizza topping before adding grated cheese and your prefered meat, either pepparroni, spiced chicken or whatever you fancy on your pizza. TESCO TOMATO PUREE I do a lot of Italian style cooking and do get through quite a lot of tomato puree. I have used various tomatos purees over the years but at 40p this is one of the cheapest and best that I have come across. The tube holds 200g of tomato puree and comes in a cardboard box which is decorated with pictures of ripe tomatoes on it. The tube is a metal tube with a plastic lid; the tube is sealed with a foil cover which is pierced by inverting the lid and inserting the plastic spike into it. WHAT IS TOMATO PUREE? Tomato purée is a processed food consisting of only tomatoes ... more

This very versatile basic ingredient actually brings back a lot of memories for me - it was always a staple ingredient in my Mum's fridge, and she'd use it in all sorts of ways, from bologneses to bizarre concoctions with garlic to ward off colds. We tend to use it in sandwiches, although on the rare occasions that I make bolognese completely from scratch I'd use a whole tube. Our nine-year old has recently got quite hooked on it when she's making her own sarnies, mainly ham ones, which is great as she doesn't like to eat a lot of fresh fruit & veg, and, strangely, definitely NOT actual ... more

Can I use this instead of Packet Fresh Tomato Sauce?

I have a recipe for a chicken and cheese macaroni dish. In the ingredients there is Packet fresh tomato sauce. I can't seem to find this anywhere, can I use tomato puree instead?
