ESTP......
Having joined TSP on 20/04/02 before I researched the company I was looking forward to my books..
The Introductory offer of 3 books for £1 each was most alluring..the choice was not great but I found 3 books which interested me greatly and so I looked into it further....
I could get my books "At no commitment to buy another book ever" and "Postage and Packing at £2.99 no matter how many you order" sure beat Amazon...seemed to have the major books after Introductory offer on sale at cheap prices...
I Looked a little deeper and BCA, big name in the book market...Book Club Associates, are behind the deal...
Online ordering...no payment until you get the invoice then you can pay online or by telephone
or post...
I felt like a trout in a river with no food and then a juicy worm appeared with a shiny thing hanging out it's mouth and I'm hooked....I Sign/Type up....
And then the fun begins....
I got an Email immediately telling me my order saved me £59.98 for ordering :
Trade Secrets 2001 at £1 Internet: the Complete Reference- Millennium Edition £1.00 The Worst Case Scenario Survival Handbook £1 Document Case (Free Offer) Postage £3.99
Postage is not as per terms and conditions at £2.99, I decided to leave it until the invoice comes in.
I discovered that I couldn't log onto the site and Emailed eTSP, they replied rather speedily and I was in...
My account said that 2 of the same book had been dispatched on the 21/04/02...as it was the 6/05/02 I emailed my concerns on delivery and duplication...
The response was an apology on the duplication which was a website fault and would be corrected...The free document case was not available but I would get a £5 voucher...cool...but a title was not available and would be posted when it came into stock..this happens alot I have found out after some investigation....And my order would be with me within 7 days.....
I received a Newsletter from them 16/05/02 showing the recommended title...I'd heard that rejecting it was vital to save me some money....I clicked the link and visited the page with the book...No section or link allowed you to reject the title...I looked under numerous sections of the website and even the recommended title section did not have the book..I could not reject it...
On the Evening of the 16/05/02 I emailed my concerns on delivery and also not being able to reject the title...
I got a response tonight which said the book has now been rejected by you and my books were dispatched on the 1/05/02 and to allow 28 days for delivery along with the following text in the Email :
Does it seem like everyone knows how to use the web except you?
Internet All In One Dummies Desk Reference
is chock-full of clear, step-by-step information on using the Internet, navigating the web, building a website and much more.
Maybe this seems quite normal, but to me it was a message saying "you are stupid" from the customer services team at eTSP....You decide was it meant as a suggested book or a lets tell him he's stupid by suggesting a dummies book...answer on a comment please...And if you name is Lisa from eTSP don't bother I have your number...
If you do go to the site http://www.etsp.co.uk then please look at the top of the page where it says "quicker delivery"...quicker than what walking?
The courier company they use is "White Arrow" according to the Email I have from ETSP....surely it does not take 28 days in the hands of a courier company to deliver the goods...
The question has to be why buy a book from eTSP if delivery is going to take 28 days...cost..well yes but time has a price as well, I've bought and read another book awaiting for my eTSP books, if eTSP had been on the ball with a smooth operation and had customer service staff that knew how to do their jobs then I may have spent the money with them...The better half wants the new Jilly Cooper book but Amazon will get that order....
It's now the 17/05/02 and I await today to see if my order will be delivered...I could await another 13 days though according to the latest Email....
I hope this op does not look like a moan about eTSP which it's hard not to be but I still feel furious...
If you join eTSP then please have better luck than me....and have all your ordered items in stock....Just out of interest my account at eTSP still has the duplicate item....No update...
I recently joined BFC.....ordered some books and have been waiting about 6 weeks for them to arrive. I hate the fact that they charge you such horrendous postage yet the books are usually delivered by an agent! BFC don't have a reject button that I can find either.....does that make me a dummy too?
Sounds like you had a bad time and the op is useful to others, but I joined about the same time as you and have had the opposite experience.
I got my books within 2 weeks (although they were left outside so could have got wet if it rained) and I couldn't find where to cancel the books on the website either so emailed them and got a quick reply. I haven't had any probs so far (apart from having to remember to cancel the books every month - don't fancy the charges if you forget and have to send them back!) Gx

I read a recommended review for this company earlier, but now I'm dubious. Ang.
