EVE is one of those games that you will struggle to put down; the game itself grabs you from the outset. The graphics are nothing less than stunning; you don't even need a top end graphics card. The game play itself can be a little hard to grasp, however pick your friends and you will be well on the way to that big payout.
SIGN UP ~~~~~~~ After you have created your account, you will be presented with three empty slots. Click on one of these slots and you will be asked some basic questions about the character you want to create. There are four basic races in the game, each one having particular attributes and skills that are associated with them. You will then be asked to give your character a history, what bloodline did he or she come from, to what school did he or she go, and what did he or she learn at school. These choices will further affect what skills your character starts with. Before your character is finally created you will be asked to create a face for them, this will appear next to your biography and next to text you type in chat channels. The customisation options and the
rendering quality is awesome, you can change your appearance from the sharpness of your chin to the "evilness" of your eyes.
SKILLS ~~~~~~ Since I have been talking about skills, there are currently over 300 skills implemented in game, you can choose to train any skill you want at any time, however some skills have other skills at its pre-requisites. Each skill has a rank, which defines how long it takes to train that skill, a rank one skill will typically take no more than 8 days to train fully, whereas a rank 8 skill will take a few months. Each skill has a level ranging between 1 and 5 each level is progressively longer to train.
SHIPS ~~~~~ When your character finally gets into the world, you will be in a ship that we like to call a "Newbie" ship, basically a ship that you can't sell, you can hardly do anything with and you are probably best getting out of as soon as possible. Fortunately you will not have to wait long, once you have completed the initial tutorials, which teach you the basics of how to survive in EVE, you should have enough money to buy the next best ship. From there on you can just keep buying bigger, better and far more expensive ships. Just think in a couple of weeks you could be flying anything from a Shuttle to a Titan (that a VERY big ship)
EQUIPMENT & WEAPONS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Of course your ship, however big, it almost totally useless without something on it. Chose from rail guns, lasers, smart bombs, shields, armour repairers, afterburners, warp drives and more beside. You can't just fit anything though, every piece of equipment and weapon, has a CPU Power and Electrical requirement, these restrict you to certain bits of equipment. You didn't want to fit those uber engines to your little frigate did you?
COMMUNITY ~~~~~~~~~~ If you played EVE on your own, without ever interacting with the other players, you might as well give up and go play a mining simulation; as with any MMORPG you would be daft if you didn't join a group of people or at the very least try to take on a group of people. Fortunately has the two most common ways of grouping up, both in a temporary group or as a persistent guild or corporation. You can pay tax, own shares, access hangars, wallets or become the CEO of your corporation, whatever you do feel safe to know that your mates will always be there for you.
OUTSIDE THE GAME ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now while, you might think that a review about a Online Game should be all about the game, but when investigating a MMORPG you need to look at the whole picture, this includes Billing, Downtime and Support. The game is not expensive at approximately £19 to create your account (Including free month), then about £8 for every month there after. You can choose from paying monthly, three monthly or six monthly, which can be paid with major credit cards. Additionally you can pay with 30, 50, 90, 100 or 180 day game cards. Unlike other MMORPGs EVE has a daily downtime at 11AM GMT for approximately one hour, then if a patch is released (normally a Tuesday) then downtime may be brought forward or extended. Support tickets can be submitted either in game, or from the website, these tickets are usually responded to within a couple of hours, however if your request is particularly complicated the GMs may take some time to respond to you, overall the support is good.

Very informant, but ruins the surprise and mystery. Bit longwinded. If I wanted to read an essay I would of read the instruction manual with the game.

This game sounds fascinating. I have not ventured into online gaming yet, but admit to being mightily tempted!

An ex boyfriend of mines plays this, and I've watched for hours over his shoulder and never really understand it. Your review had just enough detail to enable me to understand the game without overwhelming or confusing me . Great job!
