As a budding author myself I've been on quite a few websites that claim to be dedicated to nurturing new talent. I must admit i was disappointed with the site itself. It seemed bland compared to almost every other site I've visited.
There are guides to almost every area of writing (freelancing, poetry, technical writing etc) however I found them kind of lacking. They weren't very interesting to read, which for an authors website isn't very good.
However, although the site itself isn't all too interesting, the things you can get for free are quite good. 'WriteSparks Lite' is a program that gives various prompts which you then have to formulate a story idea from. It's limited being only a trial version, but some of the prompts are ok. I would recommend only beginners to use this free version however, for seasoned writers it would just be re-treading old ground.
The other good thing is the 'Daily Writes' newsletter. Every day for 31 days you receive a short email which gives you a theme to write a quick short. I found it helpful, it stimulates the mind into the writing mood. The only bad thing may be the fact that to get it for free, you have to give 4 friends' (valid) email addresses so they can promote themselves. Some may not want to hand out other people's emails, some may not have four emails to give.
All in all though, i would definitely recommend a look. You never know, you could find it helpful.
