The email service that Excite.co.uk provides can be described in just about one word - Average. There is nothing special to it, quite the oposite in fact. Now, I'm not saying that it is bad, in fact its actually pretty good. Simply, I'm just saying it doesn't do anything original. Except for one. I'm clearly going against popular opinion here but I don't think Excite provides that great an email service. I have tried several different email providers over the years. My needs are simple: a simple address, adequate file space and reliable access. Sadly, Excite have let me down on the latter. I have experienced a number of problems accessing my excite account. ...is reasonably customisable. You get the usual address book, mail signature, file/attachment upload, POP retrieval plus you can chose cute "new mail" icons. What has seriously annoyed me is the amount of "downtime" I have experienced. I thought it was best to keep it separate from my home email account, as it was likely I might change that sometime in the future.
