What is a Personal Homepage?
A Personal Homepage is a page in your personal member area which you
can fill with text, pictures and HTML content to introduce yourself
to other Ciao members and tell them a little about your interests.
You make all content and layout decisions yourself and, provided that
you do not write anything or display any pictures that are unlawful
or immoral, you can include any information you like.
Who can create a Personal Homepage?
Any registered Ciao member can make a Personal Homepage on the site.

Does it cost anything to have a Ciao Personal
Homepage?
No, the Personal Homepage feature is absolutely free and enables you to have your
own webpage without paying a penny.
What different types of Personal Homepage are
there?
Ciao offers two different ways to create a Personal Homepage: if you know
how to use HTML, then we offer you the chance to format your homepage
precisely how you wish to, for a truly unique design and layout. If,
however, you do not wish to write the HTML code for the page yourself,
we also offer you a choice of three standard designs, with one, two or
three columns of text and images. You can further personalise these standard
formats by choosing text and background colours, and adding HTML tags if
you wish to.
How can I create a Personal Homepage?
Log in and go to your personal member area "My Ciao". Then click on the
"Personal Homepage" tab. You will now be presented with two options:
either using the automatic "Ciao Designer" to create a homepage using
one of our standard formats, or writing the HTML code for the homepage
yourself. Click on the appropriate link and then follow the instructions
on screen. After making your initial layout choices, you will be offered
the chance to see a preview of the design and make any changes you wish
before finally confirming it.
I don't know anything about HTML programming.
Can I make a Personal Homepage anyway?
Yes: we have developed an automatic homepage designer (the "Ciao Designer")
to enable you to construct a homepage quickly and easily, even without
knowledge of HTML. You will have a choice of three standard layouts
(with one, two or three columns of text and images) and you can even
personalise the page by changing the text and background colours and
font size. Simply click on the "Homepage" tab and select the "Ciao Designer"
option. Then follow the instructions on screen.
Do all standard HTML tags work?
The following HTML formatting tags are allowed: <p>, <br>,
<hr>, <h1> through <h6>, <b>, <i>, <u>,
<div>, <center>, <font>,
<img>, <ul>, <ul>, <li>.
The following HTML tags will not work on your Personal Homepage:
<applet>, <base>, <bgsound>, <body>, <button>, <embed(ed)>,
<form>, <frame>, <head>, <html>, <iframe>, <input>, <link>,
<meta>, <object>, <option>, <script>, <select>, <textarea>, <title>.
Can I edit my Personal Homepage later?
Yes, you can edit your Personal Homepage whenever, and however often,
you wish. To do so, simply log in, go to your "My Ciao" personal area,
select the "Personal Homepage" tab and click on the "Edit Personal Homepage"
link at the top right-hand side of the homepage.
How can I delete my Personal Homepage?
Just log in, go to your "My Ciao" personal area, select the "Personal Homepage"
tab and click on the "Edit Personal Homepage" link at the top right-hand side of
the homepage. Then click on the "Start again" button to clear the page.
