What is a Ciao Personal Member Profile?
Your Personal Member Profile consists of a summary of the key information
about yourself, including your name, address, gender and age, a photo
of you and a short introductory text. You can choose how much, if
any, of this information you wish to make visible to other members
who visit your member area in your "Public Profile". The
information which you choose to reveal then appears in your member
area at the top of the page.
What is the difference between a Personal Profile
and a Personal Homepage?
A Personal Profile contains no more than the key facts about yourself,
a photo, and a short text which appear, if you choose to present them,
as unformatted text in your member area. Your Personal Homepage, on
the other hand, can contain whatever information you choose in a format
and layout of your devising. Your Personal Homepage enables you to
introduce yourself to other members in a far more detailed way and
exercise your creativity in designing an attractive layout.
How an I set up my Personal Member Profile?
Simply log in and go to your personal member area "My Ciao".
Then click on the "Settings" tab, followed by one of the
links under the heading "Member Profile". Here you can edit
the details that you show other members in your Public Profile, upload
a picture and write a short "About Myself" text.
What are the advantages of filling out my Member
Profile in full?
Filling out your Member Profile enables other members to find out
a little about you. This humanises your presence on Ciao; it allows
other members to see the person behind the member name, and experience
has shown that this not only makes other members more likely to read
your product reviews, but also to add you to their Circle of Trust,
thereby increasing your Community Points and earnings.
What information can I publish in my Public
Profile?
Your public profile consists of basic facts about you: your name and
address, gender and date of birth. You can choose which of these details
you wish to publish by checking the tick-boxes next to each data field
on the "Edit Public Profile" page accessible from the "Settings"
tab in your "My Ciao" area. To include a photo of you, click
on the "Upload Picture" link on the "Settings"
tab.
How do I enter a text in the "About Myself"
section?
Simply log in, go to your personal member area, "My Ciao",
and click on "Write/edit 'About Myself' text" on the "Settings"
tab. Your "About Myself" text appears in a prominent position
in your member area and also appears in various other locations, e.g.
for logged in members, next to your product reviews, and in the Circle
of Trust overviews of those members who trust you.
How do I enter the general member information?
Log in and go to your personal member area, "My Ciao". Click
on the "Update personal details" link on the "Settings"
tab. You will then see the information which you provided during your
registration. You may choose to edit the details here. To determine
which details are visible to other members, click on the "Edit
public member profile" link on the "Settings" tab and
check or uncheck the tick-boxes next to each data field.
How do I include a picture of myself in my
personal profile?
When you have logged in, go to the "My Ciao" area. Click
on the "Settings" tab, and then on the "Upload Picture"
link under "Member Profile". Then simply click on "Browse..."
button and select the image file from your computer which you wish
to upload. To conclude, click on "Upload picture".
Can I choose any picture I like to upload into
my Member Profile?
Photos must be 100 x 137 pixels (width x height), a maximum of 10
KB large, and supplied as a JPEG (.jpg) file. Please note that we
are only able to accept pictures which clearly show you at your current
age. We cannot display photos from your childhood, photos of celebrities
or those which clearly show any other third party. Nor can we display
photos of cartoon characters or photos which are in any way unlawful
or immoral. Since all pictures must be passed by the Ciao team, it
may take up to five days for your picture to appear online, so please
be patient.
How can I delete the information in my Member
Profile?
Log in and go to your personal member area, "My Ciao". Click
on the "Edit Public Profile" link on the "Settings"
tab. You will then see the information which is currently visible
to other members. You can decide which details you would like other
members to see by checking the tick-boxes next to each data field.
Uncheck all of the boxes to keep all of your personal information
confidential.
