The Ciao concept is founded and relies upon the honesty of the Member
Community. Sadly, individual members continually attempt to deceive
and cheat the Community: this fraudulent usage takes several different
forms, but invariably leads to a decline in site quality and causes
the Community to suffer, for example by members wrongfully claiming
money to which honest members are entitled.
A range of automated mechanisms have already been designed to hinder
and/or identify cases of misuse, and other techniques are under development.
To help members better understand our policy and the preventative measures
taken in this area, we have described the various actions that are considered
to be abuse, and the disciplinary measures that will be taken against
offending members, in the following text. You will also find an explanation
of the procedure for reporting misuse below.
One of the measures that may be taken against members who misuse

As any type of abuse of the website represents a breach of the
Terms and Conditions of membership, Ciao reserves the right to levy a
contractual penalty of £50 in cases of proven misuse. Should the
offending member’s Ciao account balance amount to a lesser sum,
the balance will set back to zero. If monies derived from fraudulent
usage of the website have already been transferred to the member’s
bank account, (s)he shall be required to pay such monies back to Ciao.
Please help us to maintain the quality of the Ciao website by reporting
cases of clear misuse to us using the links on the left. It may take
us some time to process your report, but we will nonetheless endeavour
to investigate each case individually.
