What is the Ciao E-Mail Alert Service?
The Ciao E-Mail Alert Service enables you to keep in touch with what's happening on
Ciao even when you are not on the site. You can subscribe to have e-mails sent to you
when particular events occur, e.g. when somebody posts a comment about a review you
have written, or when a review is submitted in a category of interest to you.
You can also determine the frequency at which these e-mails are sent.
For which events can I receive an e-mail alert?
You can receive alerts when:
a new review is submitted about a particular product
a new review is submitted by a particular author
one of your own reviews receives a rating
a comment is written about one of your own reviews
a new entry is left in your Guestbook
a member adds you to his/her Circle of Trust
How can I sign up to receive e-mail alerts?
For all types of e-mail alert except those concerning new reviews of
particular products or by particular authors, you can subscribe to the
service by logging in and going to your "My Ciao" area. Next, click on
the "Modify e-mail alerts" link under the "E-Mail settings" heading,
and choose the type of event to which you wish to be alerted by clicking
on the appropriate link. Then, choose how frequently you would like to
receive the e-mails. To receive e-mail alerts whenever a review of a
particular product is submitted, go to the relevant Product Overview
Page and click on the link at the top right of the page to subscribe.
Similarly, to receive alerts whenever a particular author submits a review,
visit their personal member area and click on the link at the top right-hand
side of the page.
Can I change the frequency of the alerts I
am sent?
Yes. To do so, log in and go to your personal member area, "My Ciao".
Click on the "Settings" tab and then on the "Modify e-mail alerts" link
under the "E-Mail settings" heading. Click on the type of the alert
whose frequency you would like to change and then use the radio buttons
to determine how often you receive the alerts.
How do I unsubscribe from the E-Mail Alert
Service?
Simply log in and go to your personal member area, "My Ciao". Click on
the "Settings" tab and then on the "Modify e-mail alerts" link under the
"E-Mail settings" heading. Click on the type of the alert from which you
would like to unsubscribe, and then choose the "never" option for how
frequently you wish to receive the alerts.
