The Motley Fool website is a one-stop shop for financial news, information and advice, and I have found it invaluable since I discovered it a few months ago. When I left uni and started work I didn't have the first clue about which financial products I needed and why - the whole world of pensions, ISAs and insurance was a closed book to me while I was a student. When I started earning a salary I decided I needed to find out more, and was lucky enough to happen on the Motley Fool early on in my research.

The site is large but easy to navigate. The front page has daily articles about all sorts of financial subjects: mortgages, pensions, savings, government policy on finance, benefits etc. There is plenty of market news and comment for those interested in investing in shares, and advice/news about investment strategy and ideas. Everything is always presented in Motley Fool style - the information is clearly presented and humorously written - why should finance be boring? The emphasis is very clearly on EDUCATION - at the Fool they want you to do your own research and make informed financial decisions that you understand and which are right for you. Too often you hear of people getting bad advice from Independent Financial Advisers (IFAs) or finance industry bods (Banks, Brokers etc).

One of the great strengths of the site is the lively discussion board section. Whatever your financial situation, question or problem, there is a board for you where there are people who can advise, either from personal experience or because they work in the industry. My favourite boards include the Dealing with Debt board and the Living Below Your Means board, both of which are always full of good advice on how to save money and make prudent financial decisions. They include details of special offers, advice on how/where to get good value insurance, savings rates...everything really!

Another real plus point for the Motley Fool site is the 'Fool's School' - a section where you can find out everything you need to know about pensions, tax, insurance and savings before you embark on researching the right product for you. They tell you all the essentials, so that even if you do seek advice later on, you will know what questions to ask. Being well-informed about finance can literally save you thousands of pounds in charges. There are always links to other relevant sites.

As you can probably tell, I whole-heartedly recommend this site. Since I began to visit I have invested in a pension and two separate mini-ISAs - and I know why I chose the providers/products I did and why they are right for me at the moment. I know how much of my salary I can save, and where I can get the best rate on my savings. And if I ever get stuck, I can post a message on one of the boards and people will help me out. If you think your finances need a makeover, or if you just want to be better informed, I suggest you log on: www.fool.co.uk
