Disadvantages: Registration is currently limited to two days each week.

First things first, the OcUK forums are a mainly technical discussion site dealing with all manner of computer-related questions and informational articles. However it is also a thriving community of fun and friendly people who simply enjoy sharing their real-life experiences with one another.

As well as the extensive selection of areas for computer hardware and software there are also dedicated areas where members can talk about pretty ...
...film they have just seen, which CD they are thinking of buying, what cameras people recommend, as well as asking advice on all manner of personal/family/career decisions or problems they may currently be facing.

Although on the surface the site would seem to be inhabited by a predominately male-in-late-teens crowd do not let this scare you off, there is a fast increasing population of female members and there are plenty of more mature ... more

Advantages: good products average prices
Disadvantages: they stole my money and now don't reply

Overclockers gets good reviews from most people and I can see why, good products, good information on the site and average prices. That's where it ends. If you are unlucky enough to have to return a faulty item then look out. The RMA procedure as the other review stated has no tracking facility. I had the wrong item sent to me; this was annoying as I had already received a faulty item. When I return the item overclockers incorrectly sent to me I ...
...me for returning the wrong item. We had already spoken via the poor webnote system and overclockers insisted that they knew that the problem was with "their" warehouse and I should "not worry". Now time after time they get it wrong, I have sent memory back three times costing me £4.50 each time, my credit card has been charged £20 and they still don't understand the problem. I tried ringing the shop twice, they are very nice and understanding but ...

The retail side is a let down

Advantages: Wide stock range in theory
Disadvantages: Items not in stock when they say they are!!

The retail business sells electronics and computer kit with the emphasis on gaming similar to dabs,e-buyer,komplett etc. I placed a £600 plus order, carefully choosing items shown as being in stock and paid extra for next day delivery. At the same time I placed orders with two other IT suppliers. One managed to deliver next day, the other the day after that but three days after the order zippo from Overclockers. A telephone call revealed the stock ...
...date for delivery. When I asked a substitute card was offered (the same card under a different name)but delivery would be another three days away and no refund of the next day delivery charge or an apology. I cancelled the order, maybe I was unlucky but why bother supporting poor service so that the MD can get rich? ...

OC swamped by Returns?

Advantages: Cheapish
Disadvantages: very poor returns service

I purchased a DVD writer from Overclockers. The drive drawer wouldn't open, so I folllowed OC's fairly typical returns policy; request an RMA, Post back product etc. 2 weeks later and despite multiple notes asking about status, I am told that it is 'sitting in our returns queue waiting to be tested'. To me that kind of delay is totally unacceptable. Co-incidentally I brought and returned another product from eBuyer at the same time. I had a full ...
...terms of service. I've tried calling Oc, but I cant get through. When you send a message through their site you get an email back that you cant reply to, so you have to go back to their site and follow the process to submit another note. Any kind of trail to the discussion is therefore impossible. ...
