I have a number of friends both abroad and at other ends of the country and wanted to share photos of my little girl – She’s only 1 and I’ve turned into one of those irritating friends that doesn’t stop talking about their children.
Digital Cameras haven’t really amazed me just yet so I went ahead and bought a scanner. The process of scanning in already developed prints was time consuming but worthwhile, then I heard about Fotango.
Fotango develops your films on-line for free but charges you for the printing of any photos. A pretty simple concept, however the execution is really inspiring. I recently joined and promptly received my introduction pack, including a selection of pre-paid envelopes in which to return my 35mm or APS films for developing.
The opportunity to use the service arose after my Daughter’s first birthday when I went through a complete roll in the first hour of here party. The following day (Friday) I popped the film in the pre-paid envelope and sent it off to Fotango. On Monday I received an e-mail with a link to my personalised web page with the developed photos. Within minutes I was sending these pictures to friends and family as well as building some cute e-cards for the Grand parents.
I received a number of free prints as part of my registration incentive and once a few friends had seen the pics they also joined Fotango, providing me with additional free prints. All in all I ordered 11 free prints and only paid for the delivery.
There are loads of other value-added services on the site, including photo mouse mats and being able to preview frames for your photos. I’m sure I’ll be making the most of these services in the future.
Since I’m no great photographer I often get a few wasted photographs on every developed film and this service allows me to preview the photos before I buy them. While the cost of printing the films after they’ve been developed is slightly more expensive than normal the over all deal is quite competitive.
I would whole-heartedly recommend the service.
UPDATE******************************* It looks like the free on-line development offer has now finished. To get you're phots develop and published on-line you need to order a complete printed set .
To be honest I'll still use the service since it saves me time having to scan in the photos afterwards.

I've just used Fotango for the 1st time this week & received my photos back this morning. They're fab! I've already grouped my on-line photos up into albums and e-mailed various ones to friends. Saves a fortune on postage and extra prints!!

Excellent opinion. Great detail. I must admit I do find it annoying when people talk about their kids all the time, but that is probably because I haven't got any!
Advantages: Fast service, Share your photos with friends easily, in their email, then they can purchase prints for themselves, Loads of extras to play with, some great gift ideas Disadvantages: May need to "rotate" images for them to print correctly, Any photos which you link to have an add on them
