I first came across Fotango through an affiliates scheme from either Tradedoubler or Commission Junction (I don't remember which), which of course puts me in mind of another opinion or two to be written!!! They approached me as a potential user of their shopping cart service before I ever used them to process photographs.
I have a website (www.thedrawingroom.org) where people can request pictures to be drawn. As I provide this service for free, I did need a way of making some money. The Fotango service has provided that opportunity. The service is known as 'print button'. You give them access to your ftp account, and upload hi-res versions of your pictures. They can then produce and sell your images on a variety of products; t-shirts, mousemats, mugs etc. You set the sale price somewhere above the base price of the product, and split the profit with Fotango.
I can't say I've made my millions through this, but give it time! It is useful, in that I don't have to do any production or sales work - I just add in a little bit of Java code into my web pages.
I just wanted to highlight the fact that this service is available, but there is no reference to it on their website - I find this quite peculiar! Although, it is easy to order your own photos printed onto gifts, from their site.
Since having established this relationship with them, I have used their photo processing service. My boyfriend had bought a mug from my site, and with the delivery came a couple of envelopes with which to send film for processing. So on our return from Berlin with a couple of rolls to develop, we decided to give them a try. I'd already seen that their photo prints were sharp and colour-correct, so I knew the quality was up to scratch.
We sent the film off on a Thursday, were notified by email that our pictures were ready to view on Saturday, and the prints arrived in the post on Monday morning. It was great to be able to view them online, and the prints were of a very high standard. Online they looked a little bit over-exposed, but the prints were perfect.
The cost is reasonable. You can get a set of 4x6 glossy prints + photos online for £4.49 for less than 40 or £4.99 for more than 40. 5x7 prints + photos online for 5.49(-40) or 6.49(40+) Postage is a flat 85p per item. They accept uploads from digital cameras also.
It's a great added feature that you can make any selection of images available online for others to view. You can catalogue and group your photos in your own choice of folders. I think other ops have covered this thoroughly enough. I simply wanted to show that there's plenty more to this site than first meets the eye.
Apologies for the rushed ending - I think my boss would rather I got on with my job than writing ops for Ciao! Hehe!

Yeah I've found it now, you have to click on Fotangopro on their login page. There it details a few other options, including the Print Button. I think I'll be using this on my site when it is finally finished.
Thanks for making me look for it.

Advantages: Fast service, Share your photos with friends easily, in their email, then they can purchase prints for themselves, Loads of extras to play with, some great gift ideas Disadvantages: May need to "rotate" images for them to print correctly, Any photos which you link to have an add on them
