Free forums is of course a site where you can make your own forum.
At first sight it has got some real advantages:
- it's free
- no bullshit: clear lay-out, just one banner, no frames, no annoying gifs, ... --> easy to paste into a webpage
- no limit on the number of messages (they're deleted after 90 days)
- easy name: what's more logic than freeforums.com? Besides, the url of your forum becomes then: www.freeforums.com/forums/YourForum
Still, I would NOT recommend this site at all!
It has got some major disadvantages and problems:
- If you have problems, no contact address what-so-ever. I had problems myself and there was nobody I could contact. No email adress on site, I looked everywhere. I tried even some "classic" email-adresses like "webmaster@freeforums.com", "info@freeforums.com",... but they all came back.
- Second, this site has not evoluated since I first saw it. (september 2000) Nothing seems to change, no updates, no general informations, no improvements, ... NOTHING! It's dead...
- Very few features. As forum master you can delete messages, block words, block IP's, background colors,... but that's about it!
- Once and then, the site is not accessible. No reason given.
- Somewhere in december suddenly half of the messages where erased. (sometimes containing important information) Why? No reason given.
- If you sort the messages by thread you only see the +-30 first. I discovered that to see all of the messages I had to choose "sort by date". Why, No idea...
Conslusion: forget about this site!!
