‘Freeserve is the UK’s first choice for the internet,’ claims the little blue CD cover that you pick up from any Curry’s or ‘The Link’ shop. And to be honest I agree. The CD is very simple to install- you simply place it into the drive on your computer and click on a few buttons and away you go. The CD contains Internet Explorer, Outlook Express and a help file. The CD will automatically enter the dial up number and settings for you, so as long as you have a modem connected to a phone line, you can get connected up to the Internet in a matter of minutes. Once connected to the Internet, using a normal 56K modem, it goes fairly quickly, as all the American Internet addicts do not affect it. Freeserve offers a whole host of services, from shopping to news to sports to e-mail to online chatting. The choice is amazing. It offers a fairly decent search engine and there are not too many adverts through the actual Freeserve site either. Freeserve also offer unlimited time on the Internet for only £12.99 a month, both on and off peak, which is cheaper than both BT and AOL. For £8.99 a month, they offer unlimited off peak use on the Internet. For first time Internet users and users who use the Internet a lot, Freeserve is an ideal ISP.
