No FT. No comment

Advantages: Best source of financial information
Disadvantages: Have to pay for access to some data and services

...that provide financial information, but ft.com is one of the best and certainly one to which I refer on a daily basis. The FT newspaper has been one of the best, if not the best, source of financial data and news for many decades, giving good global and local news coverage. The FT web-site is an on-line version of the newspaper, giving access to most of the articles from the daily and weekend newspapers for free, although some articles and services ...
...layout of the web-site is pretty similar to the newspaper (and it's even pink, just like the newspaper) with the various sections clearly marked across the top-banner: Front Page; UK; World; Companies; Markets; Lex; Comment; Business Life and Weekend. Each page has headlines of articles in reverse order of publication, with links through to the full story. Most of these links are available to non-subscribers, but some may come up with a request for ... more

Massive portal for all business needs

Advantages: Global archive, personal office, business news coverage
Disadvantages:

Without a doubt, the Financial Times' online presence, FT.com, is a beast of a site. Indeed, for anyone in the business community, it is the one-stop resource that can provide you with a global archive (consisting of over 8000 publications worldwide), their personal office feature (unlimited email and file storage), forums, portfolio feature and a time-off section for leisure activities. But of course, the business news coverage is what it is known ...

Excellent & easy to use.....

Advantages: Clear, plenty of information
Disadvantages: Occasionally slow

I use ftyourmoney.com because it makes keeping a track of my investments so easy. The whole site is easy to navigate with lots of information and news pitched at a level below the "Financial Times" type reader. Your ordinary bloke on the street could understand most of the information with little help. For more sophisticated/experienced investors there is plenty of near live price data and lots of historical price data and graphs available for research ...

Any news financial is at FT.com

Advantages: comprihensive site
Disadvantages: sometimes hard to find things

I find FT.com really useful for any thing financial. It is the the best for upto date unit trust prices. You can order company reports from it free of charge, share prices and news all up todate & free of charge. The only slight problem is it can be a little difficult sometimes to find things unless you know the exact name or item you are looking for. I find the free reports bit realy useful if I am considering a stock I always goto free reports ...

A MUST for the private investor

Advantages: Lots of excerllent info and its FREE
Disadvantages: none

FT.com is an absolute must for the private investor. I personally have never got into the Financial Times newspaper, but I find their website to be absolutely excellent, in fact indispensible. Their up to the minute information on companies and markets and news is excellent and you can monitor prices not only on listed companies (as you get on most day trading web sites) but also on investment trusts etc. They also have excellent links to other ...

Business news

Advantages: Latest information on business
Disadvantages: none

If you want to know about the latest news in the business sector especially in the stock market, this is the first place you should look into. The site now has been given a new look and it looked much better than the previous one with more features available. It has discussion forums alongside columns and editorials. You can also get access to company information such as the address, contact details, summary of the company activities and it's financial ...

Highly Authoritative and Reliable

Advantages: Informative. Well written. Reliable
Disadvantages: Expensive

on Greater Manchester. This featured details of major firms in the area, prospects, issues and problems, and looked at the various places in the area such as Salford, Stockport and Manchester. I should add this magazine does not confine itself only to the UK but has goodcoverage of Europe as well and gives readers information on technology,bio-tech,auto and other companies in the European Union. They also have an excellent web site - http://www.investorschronicle.ft.com/ Although it is rather expensive - the cover price is 3.25 pounds-this is undeniably a superb publication- it is easy to read, has high editorial standards and is highly reliable. What more could you really ask for ! ...

Review of Investors Chronicle

Clear if a bit complicated

Advantages: Portfolios include unit trusts, as well as other investments
Disadvantages: New issues not updated v.often

III was one of the first finance sites to gain a march on ft.com,one of the first user friendly finance sites, which started slowly and reacted too late to catch up with hemscott and iii. III has been v.useful for myself. The portfolios are excellent. They not only include shares, but also unit trusts, which many of the other sites do not. It is this feature which makes me prefer it over others as i have a spread portfolio. The chat on shares is non existent on some, and rather too much on others (pacific media, and anything else ramped by the city slickers) One wee tip for you, comprehensive business services (CBS.L), just look at the graph, unbelieveable. III offers a great deal of services, however the new issues isn't updated as often as it should be. ...

Review of iii.co.uk (Interactive Investor International)

Money making machine

Advantages: Capital growth
Disadvantages: none

This is an excellant long-term investment trust. All you need to do is look at the chart to see why ;) Steady higher highs and lows all the way ! Thats the best type of trend you can ask for ! Go to FT.com and enter BTEm and take a look at that chart ! The trust invests for the long-term i, the likes of BHP, and Eastern Europe / Russia, it seems to be able to be in the right place at the right time ! If you don't want to invest in the trust, then it can be educational just to take a peak at the companies its invested in as many of them will outperform the markets as a whole ! Theres a discussion on this trust and a few others such as JII, and MLW at http://www.moneyforums.co.uk I can't reccommend this IT highly enough as a core holding for the long-term, in my experienced its provided a return of 30% per annum ! ...
