Great, I thought... now I can go about spreading the word of how appalling this site is to everyone... only for a week later, Pandemonium 2 to turn up, and my card has been debited. I was livid. I could understand it if it had been shipped the morning I phoned or something, but a week later, that's taking the p*ss!! I haven't been bothered to complain again, ... more
Just thinking about this site, this company, makes me fume. Why, if Ciao allowed swearing in their opinions, then this one would contain more obscenities than a big greasy cacker who's really peed off about something. ("Okay. Calm, Matt. Calm" - Editor)
This site offers computer and console games for cheap. A number of platforms are catered for - PC, Dreamcast and Playstation. The first criticsm is that all the games on there are really old. That might be expected though, as they are good prices. But then even that isn't true. When you first go on, you sit there thinking "A Dreamcast game for £15? That's got to be a great deal." But then, no, it's not. It's a rubbish game that this company has either bought from the shops because they couldn't sell them or nicked from the back of the lorry. And take a wander into your local Electronics Boutique, MVC or Game and you'll find they are selling this same arse-games for the same prices.
When you start looking around, you will notice the navigation is appalling. Only a very few number of games are shown on each page, and all you get on each entry is the Title and Price, not even the first line of the introduction or anything. You also only get a NEXT and PREVIOUS button for navigating through the pages - no idea of how many products are in the current section, and no choice to skip to a particular page. This means you take ages looking through the listings in the first place. Another problem is that they go on about how great their special bundles are but to get to them you have to search for 'bundle' on the search function... eh? What's the point of that? Why not have a Bundles page?
The design is acceptable. But nothing special. It's simplistic, but not in the 'Arty and Lovely, Minimalist' way, just in the 'Can't be arsed to do anything more' way.
If you were to order something, at least you get it quickly (everything delivered to your door in 48 hours, free, anywhere in the UK!). Is it f*ck! I stupidly ordered Frogger for the PC and Pandemonium 2 on the PC, at £8.99 each. My big problems started here. When I pressed to send the order, I didn't get any confirmation message, I just got sent back to the index page. Had my order gone through? I checked my e-mails... surely they sent a confirmation e-mail? Nope. Ah well, they'll send me an e-mail when they despatch each game, I'll wait til tomorrow morning. Ahem... nothing there... wait a couple more days... right, time to send a nasty e-mail, methinks. Aha, excellent, they have an order tracking feature!! (Somehow I managed to find it in the maze of unhelpful help pages). But it's not an order tracking feature at all, it's just an e-mail form which you send off and then don't get a reply from!! Believe me, I know, I waited for another week, no reply and no games. :(
Luckily for them, it had been so long since I ordered I actually forgot I had... until Frogger turned up 3 weeks and 3 days after my order, only 22 days late!! Not only that, it was battered and bruised. And they seemed to think they could make everything better by enclosing a lolly, which made me laugh! Absolutely distraught, I went back on to the site to find a phone number to complain through, e-mail was obviously no good. I found one, rang it up. The person on the end didn't even know a gamesarecheap.co.uk site existed. Great. I waited a few more days for Pandemonium 2 to arrive, and then phoned again. This time a woman (who represents the company who owns Games Are Cheap) answered and I told her how p*ssed off I was, she basically said she didn't care as Games Are Cheap are a sub-company of the company she works for, I thought this was appalling, they are still responsible. Anyway, I said I wanted to cancel the order of Pandemonium 2. She put me through to someone who I explained the situation to again, and she canceled the order...

I could understand it if it had been shipped the morning I phoned or something, but a week later, that's taking the p*ss!! I haven't been bothered to complain again, I know nothing will come of it... taking my anger out by writing about them on Ciao will be a better waste of my time. If I can stop just one person from buying from them, life will be better.
It's one of those things where you don't actually just want to tell everyone how cr*p they are, you are actually willing to go out of your way to do so. My final message: PLEASE, FOR YOUR GOOD, FOR MY GOOD, FOR THE WORLD'S GOOD, NEVER EVER EVER BUY FROM GAMESARECHEAP.CO.UK. TELL EVERYONE.
This site has quite a good idea, selling games for all the major formats which are all under £15. However, don't go there thinking you can get all the REAL games for that price. Generally, you could get most of the games for maybe a couple of pounds more than on the site if you visit a decent games shop. There are some good offers though, like Messiah (PC) for £15 seemed pretty good, Ready 2 Rumble (DC) for the same price. You can't really complain ...

This is a site that sells games as you may have guessed by the title they have got 3 main categories for the dreamcast , playstation and the P.C . These are then split into categories based on the cost of the games £0-5 , £5-£10 and £10-£15 . The thing about this iste is you are not going to find any of the latest games here cheap there are no new games that are cheaper here , the games on this site are older games . A fine example of this point ... ...,Motoracer , PGA 96 and premier manager 98. If you are looking for a game and not bothered about its age then you may find it on this site but I would have to say that the chances are not great .
On the positive side ther does seem to be a reasonable quantity of games and it doesnt look like a site that has been thrown up by someone trying to flog off their old software.
The design is also pleasing and the navigation system is good. ...
