How it works

When you have downloaded Gator, then it remains quite discreet until there is an online form to fill in, or you need to fill in your login and password. It will then ask you if you want Gator to remember the password and login name, after that it will automatically remember your information and will log you in every time you come to that page. In addition, if there is a site with a login and/or password where you don’t want Gator to pop up to help, then you can easily tell Gator not to appear at any specific site by clicking on the box in your login helper.

Whatever you are doing on your computer whether it be online or off, then Gator will not get in your way as it remains as an icon (a little pair of alligator eyes), on the shortcut task bar - along the bottom of your screen.

You will of course, need to fill in all your details after you have downloaded Gator. You can choose what details you wish to fill in or not as the case may be.

Identities

You can adapt Gator for use by different people, and it will store their details as well as your own under different ID names.

Addresses

It can store addresses for either Home, Work or Other.

The details that you can fill in are:

or course the Work details are exactly the same except that you are able to fill in your Company name if this is applicable.

Of course, as I said previously you can choose which fields you want to fill in.

Offer Companion

With Gator comes an “Offer Companion”. Offer Companion brings you value offers when you are shopping online, but don’t worry about unsightly advertising or banners that are more of an eyesore than a help, because as with everything with Gator, these offers are shown quite discreetly and very seldomly on the bottom of your details. If you do wish to view the latest offers, then there is a specific section where you can view all the very latest deals.

Settings

In the settings section, if you wish you are able to set up a password, this is so that only you have access to your information.

Privacy

If you are worried about the safety and privacy of the information that you store on Gator, then there is no need, as all your personal information is stored in an encrypted file on your computer - you can control what information goes where at all times. The information is never shared with anyone else.

I came across Gator, quite by accident, before joining Ciao! I was an avid freebie hunter on the Internet. I had seen an advert for Gator on quite a few occasions while on some freebie sites, but had never downloaded it. This was because I am very wary about downloading things from the Internet, especially in the light of recent computer viruses.

It was only after talking to a friend of mine, who was also an avid freebie hunter, that she had said that she had downloaded this onto her computer without any problems and said that it was a real asset. I decided that Gator must be worth a closer look, anything that would save me time filling in all those forms sending away for freebies.

I downloaded it and then filled in my information in the relevant areas. The only area I didn’t fill my details in was the credit card section, this is only because I am very wary about leaving my credit card details anywhere, and it doesn’t matter how secure the site is - call me old-fashioned if you want.

I am pleased that I downloaded Gator, as it has saved me so much time in filling forms and login in on various sites including Ciao.

The only gripe, that I have, is that because it is obviously an American program, which you can tell from the offers that it shows you in the offer companion, and also some of the information that it asks you for in the address section, i.e. the zip code, then it doesn’t always fill English forms in so well. It obviously doesn’t understand postcode as obviously it is listed as the zip code. Also, I think it should be able to store more details about you e.g. date of birth, status - Mr, Miss, Mrs or Mr. and also male or female as these are also more or less standard questions that you are asked for on forms.

So although I am happy enough with Gator, if there was an English version available to download, then that would be even better.

So go on give it a try, it’s free, and does save you time login in and filling forms in - what have you got to lose, if you don’t like it then uninstall it.
