    Or are they? Well it seems to be a personal matter of choice as to whether www.genie.co.uk promises you everything it's made out to be. But with its many varied services such as its free SMS text messages, interest zones, updated news stories along with your own personalised calendar and chat room who could disagree that Genie is one of the more reputable UK sites today?     Advantages Advantages unlimited texts, address book for quick sending of texts

    When i first got the internet in my room back in October, one of the first sites i joined up to was genie.co.uk. Many of my friends had been texting me through this site, and i thought it was about time i saved some money on my HUGE texting bill (i hardly ring from my phone,but send a million texts each and every day). Registering was simple-i typed in the site, and the register icon was clearly visible. You are required to, as with all internet services, fill in a few 'forms' with name, email address, D.o.B., gender etc. This doesnt take too long-what took me the time was finding a login name ... more

    Whenever the local BBC weather presenter sticks his neck out and says something like "we are going to have a hot summer", our weather forecaster goes on our local news and says "I was going to bring an onion with me tonight... to go with the tripe that Paul is talking...". After a while it gets a bit predictable, but I like it because its cheeky. What has this got to do with Genie?     Genie.co.uk is a very interesting website. It offers many services and offers access to lots of information. I signed up to genie as I got a free CD with a mobile phone I bought. I soon found there were many critical problems with the quality and consistency of the website. I will address these later; first I will briefly highlight the plus points of the site. ADVANTAGES Genie is suited for a wide range of Internet users. It regularly advertises competitions with BIG prizes and is always kept up-to-date.     Advantages Advantages Loads of freebies, well laid out, easy to use site

    Disadvantages Disadvantages £10 minimum monthly top-up on mobiles, expensive technical support on Genie Mobile, can be unreliable

    Genie were one of the first websites (if not the first) to offer free sms messaging from the internet, and email to sms. They've fairly recently re-vamped the site and added some more services- which, in my opinion makes them one of the best sites on the net for intergrated messaging. The horrible username@sms.genie.co.uk address has been replaced with the one username@genie.co.uk address. This means you can get all your e-mail both as webmail, using their easy to use client, and as text messages sent to your mobile.
