Geoaching is an outdoor activity whereby people from all walks of life follow a set of co-ordinates or clues on thier GPS device such as an iPhone to find a hidden container.
"IN BRIEF"Geocaching turns that boring walk with the dog to an interesting and enjoyable treasure hunt with a satisfaction of successfully solving and ultimately finding the hidden geocach/treasure. There is a website www.geocahing.com that explains all the ins and outs which is particularly useful before beginning. By downloading an app on your GPS device for approximatley £6 you have full and unlimitted use to the millions of seccret treasure hunts spread accross all over the globe. There is a free version of the app but it doesn't include all the geocaches that are available.
"SO WHAT DOES THE HIDDEN CONTAINER/GEOCACH CONTAIN?"Geocaches can contain anything from actual money to brick and brack. Every geocache also contains a log for people to sign when they have located it. Usually they will also contain a set of instructions of what not to put into the geocach such as sharp objects and food. The general rule of thumb is to add something to the container or to pick something for yourself as long as you leave something too.
"HOW MANY OF THESE GEOCACHES ARE THERE?"Millions! They are all over the world in many countries. I recently went to Crete and decided to see if there were any there. There were 2 that were within walking distance and hundreds more on the island. Here in England I have never tried to find a geocach and not been able to complete one within walking distance. They truly are everywhere! Even on services stations on motorways. There is an option on the downloaded app called find my nearest geocahes After selecting that it will list all the ones near you in order of nearest first! It's simple and easy to understand.
"WHO CREATES THESE GEOCACHES?"We do. Just people from the Geocaching community that have tried it, loved it, then decided to create one of their own. The full instructions of how to do this are also on the website. It's fun to make one of your own and hide it somewhere cool with hints and clues for people to find it.
"WHAT ELSE"Well there really isn't much more to it. Some geocaches are more complex than others whereby one will have a clue to another and so on until a string of multiple geocaches are needed to find the final one. They are also hidden in lots of cool places such as in trees and even in secret specially designed compartments under payphone boxes ect... by the way. People who aren't aware of geocaching are called mugglers. You'll often see in the instructions to beware of mugglers as it is in a busy path or something along those lines. This is to ensure that they don't get accidentally found and ruined which would spoil it for the true geocachers.
"IN CONCLUSION"Geocaching is a great past time for people who get bored easily. Whilst out walking a quick search on your phone throws up multiple interesting treasure hunts for you. It costs next to nothing which is fantastic! I've not a bad word to say about it. I definitely recommend it to everyone out there.
I'm new to CIAO but I hope that this review is ok. Geocaching is great!

I read about this before and thought it sounded very interesting. This is under the "Internet" section though, so I think this review should concentrate more on the website rather than the actual activity, hence my rate.
