Advantages: import email from other providers, secure, less spam Disadvantages: a little limited, but improving on it all the time
GMX offers a free webmail service. It was introduced to me last year, and described (by a security expert-type-person) as one of the most safe and secure web-based email around at the moment.
As a security conscious kinda gal, I looked into it, and must admit that I use it increasingly as time goes on. I already had a couple of email addresses with other clients, for personal and work use, but gmx.co.uk lets you have up to 10 email addresses ... ...easily. You can even select whether you want the end section to be @gmx.co.uk, .com, .de and so on.
When you go to the web site initially you must register. After that you simply log in and a separate window will open, which will be your email window. They are adding features frequently, many I don't tend to use, like the calendar, organiser and file storage (though am looking into the benefits of the file storage at the moment); but ... more

As a security conscious kinda gal, I looked into it, and must admit that I use it increasingly as time goes on. I already had a couple of email addresses with other clients, for personal and work use, but gmx.co.uk lets you have up to 10 email addresses for free, and you can change and remove them extemely easily. When you go to the web site initially you must register. After that you simply log in and a separate window will open, which will be your email window. They are adding features frequently, many I don't tend to use, like the calendar, organiser and file storage (though am looking into the benefits of the file storage at the moment); but other features I do like, such as the way you are able to import any outside email address into gmx, I currently have a Google mail email set up so the messages come direct into my gmx (though in a separate folder), and find it much easier than having to log into two separate web clients.
For ease of use, and user friendly appearance I would give it full marks. For security, I have had only a few spam emails (most of which came via the Google email account actually), so consider that pretty good too.
It's free, and it's reasonably versatile. You can change several settings, such as choosing from a small selection of tunes you can play when a message comes in, and you can alter the look a little, such as the colour scheme, these things are a little limited at the moment, but I can live with that, don't like things too complicated!
You can also set up a vCard (which auto matically attaches to the email address you specify), which is like a business card. I don't really use that much, but I do like that you can set a signature which will automatically appear at the bottom of your messages, again this can be tailored to each email address you have individually.
You cannot use the right-click function in the messages, however you can still copy & paste by using keys (a teeny bit of a pain at first, but becomess second-nature soon enough), so it's Ctrl+C to copy, then Ctrl+V to paste, simple.
I'm getting on well with gmx, and would happily recommend it.
Advantages: 10 MB free, nice design, reliable, great extensive site for surfers. Disadvantages: no emails can be saved for longer than 30 days
...good free email accounts and gmx.net is without a doubt my favourite provider. It is German, but offers a multi-lingual service for people not conversant in the language.
Their SMTP/pop service is the most reliable out of all the ones I use (GMX, BT, Crosswinds, Yahoo, Softhome and Nettaxi). Unlike the others, it has never disconnected whilst using a Group Mailer and this service is incredibly speedy.
The individual account options available are ... ...for- for each folder, how many emails are to be displayed on a page, signatures, filters, vacation autoresponder and fonts. Up to 10 MB are free. They do offer a Pro-version, for from 5 DM/month, the limit on this service is 30 MB. It offers 5 email names and 100 free SMS/month as well as other services.
The German site also offers the latest news and all sorts of services, like Finance, Internet and Downloads, Interactive Services and Shopping. ...

Advantages: Cool design, user friendly and feels new Disadvantages: Slow to open emails at times, can't copy or paste anything
...yahoo or hotmail?
Well Gmx.net is maybe for you.
The design and layout is brillant. Pretty, basic and straight to the point .
Spam filer is good and unlike hotmail, i do not get about 50 unwanted mails per day.
A negative point but it might be due to either my computer or me not knowing how to do it, is that i can't copy and paste anything. When i right click on the section of the text i would like to copy, it just doesn't work.
The last negative ...

Advantages: pop and available space Disadvantages: everything else specially spam and dataprotection
STAY AWAY from GMX !
Their support sucks !
They give your email adresses to third-party companies of which some are real spammers !
Their SPAMSCHUTZ sucks!!
They do not protect your data in an efficient way !
It looks great but if you want no spam and you don't want your adressbook-entries to receive huge amounts of spam: STAY AWAY !!
I've been with gmx for a long time and I've had it.
Their SPAMFILTER will block trustworthy servers and lets ...
