Advantages A change from your usual chat software, the communicator
Disadvantages No Customer service, long down times, the usual 'bad-guys'

I´m a talker I am, its true, thats one of the benefits I´ve found of going onto the internet, when there are days like this where my voice threatens to completely disappear, I always need a spare outlet for my ramblings, and dagnammit if I can´t speak to people with my voice, I may as well type to them, and thats where places like Habbo Hotel come to hand. I´d tried some of the UK specific chat-rooms, but for a lazy student with too much time on his hands like myself they were always way too empty during the daytime as well as in the early hours of the morning, so it was time to find a ... more

Advantages addictive, free, fun, endless possibillities, lots of rooms
Disadvantages can get boring, some people ruin your fun, can be laggy, repitive

Welcome to the habbo hotel, the habbo hotel is a online chat room that was first launched in 2000 in Finland. Then 2001 in the UK and then following 2004 in USA. The chat room is aimed at teenagers around the world. The current population for habbo is 118 million users however this is the latest figure taken from June 2008 and their is on average 8 million unique visitors monthly and 75,000 avatars being created everyday. Habbo hotel is basically a glorified chat room, where you can go to meet your friends or complete strangers in one of the public rooms or in a room you have designed and furnished yourself(costs money). When you first sign up to the habbo hotel you will be asked to register a Habbo (which is basically a little figure). You can then drees this figure in a variety of clothes and hair to give each person their own unique representation in the hotel!. You the login and can visit one of the many rooms in the hotel. Advantages Beautiful, fun, tranquil, non-American.
Disadvantages High bandwidth.

One of the most popular uses of the internet is to communicate. Primarily this manifests itself through the huge amount of email that floods through the wirse every day. Yet chatting is always popular too. Internet chat rooms, especially those favoured by people like myself, such as Internet Relay Chat (modelled on CB radio) are very bland and basic. You type and it appears. Not much scope for creativity! Previous attempts to 'jazz up' internet chat left the world with the terminally hateful Microsoft Comic Chat and a few graphical 3D avatar sites that didn't work properly. Thank heavens ... more
