I got started with this site innocently enough. I had a few books and CDs to sell, so I listed them. Then I realized that I could buy cheap books and resell them for more money. This was back when there was still the half-price limit, so I had to be careful. Now, I'm selling trading cards, music, books, and CDs. I have to admit, though, it's not quite what I expected. Stuff doesn't always sell as quickly as I'd like. Sometimes, I get an order every day or two. Sometimes, I have to wait weeks. I'd advise against trying to make a business out of it unless you have a job already.
Payments is at least once a month. If you use direct deposit, you get it once every two weeks. The fact that they offer direct deposit makes using the site much easier. It's another trip I don't have to make to the bank. Also, the site supports different types of shipping. All sellers are required to send books, CDs, and videos by media mail. Sellers also have the option of using priority mail, which is great if you want to buy or sell textbooks.
Just about anyone who has something to sell can use this site, even if you only have a few things to sell.
