Having been recommended by a friend who is a nurse, to take a supplement of Glucosamine Sulphate for my incredibly painful, achy, wobbly and creaky knees, I began some extensive research (well about two hours anyway!) online to find a good, but reasonable website which sold this product.
I found Healthspan by browsing in my search engine, relatively easily at http://www.healthspan.co.uk and I was very impressed with the clear and easy navigation of the site. Healthspan is based in Guernsey which means that all products are VAT free! I was also pleasantly surprised when I found out that post and packaging is also free!

The site includes articles by doctors and other health professionals such as Professor Robert Winstone, who is a Professor of Fertility Studies at the Imperial College London, and has appeared on various TV programmes such as The Human Body, Superhuman and Making Babies. His current online article is all about fish oils, which was particularly interesting to me, with my ongoing knee problems. The site also includes a library of articles written by doctors.
Vitamins available
The price of vitamins and supplements is by far the cheapest that I have found so far. The dosage is also higher than some other makes of vitamins, which means added value for money. I had recently brought some joint supplements in Superdrug, and the dosage was 1000mg less than the recommended dosage and it was double the price that I paid at Healthspan.
There is a huge range of products available (over 90) from Acidosis (which is a traditional remedy for heartburn and acid indigestion) to Zinc (for healthy skins and nails). The site also does vitamins for pets (Vet Vits – great name!).

The product specification is really helpful as it lists common ailments in the left hand box, you click on the ailment and a list of supplements appears on the right hand box. This is really handy if you are certain of your problem but not sure which drug to buy.

Ordering and delivery
Ordering and checkout is really simple, quick and secure. The product I ordered came within three days of ordering which is brilliant. The packaging was secure in a strong cardboard box and the product was delivered without any imperfections. I received 120 tablets of Glucosamine with Marine Chondroitin for £6.95 including free post and packaging! I was really impressed.
Along with my parcel, I also received a free magazine, which included articles from Robert Winstone and Dr Alan Larkin, who used to be senior lecturer at the University of Reading. The magazine was very informative and easy to understand without being too simplistic.
I would definitely recommend Healthspan and will use it again in the future, it’s still early days for my knees though, so fingers crossed…and legs…and eyes…and…………………….
Nice review. You have got to love the VAT free thing with buying from the Channel Islands! Glad that you have found something to help your knees. My Mum is really into taking her vitamins and I think she is now nothing short of an expert on the issue
