I have tried many search engines and this is one that I have been checking out.
The site loads fast and then you are greeted with loud, awful colors that is enough to turn me off to start with but I decided to give it a chance.
After some of the other search engines I have used this one looks like a mini search engine.
There are news headlines, stock quotes, e-mail addresses, discussion groups, white ... ...There are search resources, domain names, research service, road maps, find a job, an FTP search, public records and zip codes are some more things you will find.
I am not saying that these aren’t useful I am just saying there are much better search engines to use than this one.

There are search resources, domain names, research service, road maps, find a job, an FTP search, public records and zip codes are some more things you will find.
I am not saying that these aren’t useful I am just saying there are much better search engines to use than this one.
There was a link to Angelfire for anyone wanting a free web page. I also found a link to animation express which did not impress me much. Another link takes you to Gamesville where you can play all sorts of games but this was nothing new to me.
You can connect to a matchmaker site if your looking for a mate and so on. This site might be okay for a quick simple search but not an in depth one.
I recently found another one www.searchalot.com that is very in depth and I have it set as my start page. I would recommend that one over Hotbot as I just did not find it that useful. If I am doing a search I want the information in a short time and as much as I can find and I simply didn’t find that to be the case with Hotbot so I can not recommend this site.

I usually use hotbot for surfing on technical terms, shopping as well. It seems that hotbot has teamed up with lycos since the search engine brings me to a http://www.hotbot.lycos website. Hotbot is the search engine I use most often, more for convenience than any other reason. Although it can be slightly slow at downloading results it is an adequate for giving a broad overview of different web sites. I do find it does bring up quite a number of dead links which can be quite annoying and it doesn't appear to be updated all that often. Advantages: Colourful, Easy to use Disadvantages: Slow, Too much Junk
I used to use hotbot all the time, It was even voted the best search engine. However, it is now getting very old and slow and is having problems finding sites becasue there is so much junk in there. HotBot Is very nicely presented with an interesting colour scheme, but it is jsut getting a bit too old now. If I were you, i would use altavista instead, much faster and easier. Hotbot often comes up with dead links, old links, information not relevant ...
Advantages: Nice home page Disadvantages: Less hits than other engines
Hotbot has a well laid out home page. This is not cluttered and offers a lot of useful options without having to click on extra pages. This makes the search process a little easier.
I have found that the speed of hotbot is satisfactory but the number of hits generated during a search is inferior to other, larger search engines. I find I use hotbot as a 'second try' when my main search engines fail to find what I need. This has sometimes paid off ...
