I have several email accounts but this is my favourite.

To begin with I was overwhelmed by the amount of spam I was receiving, and no matter how many spam letters I blocked I still received TONs of junk!!!

Often very pornographic and offering me Viagra!! This is very worrying if you have teenagers using these accounts.

However they have made great efforts to improve the site, and since then I have had no more spam!! Thank god.

The steps they have introduced to halt the excessive spam is by creating an "inbox protector" which basically once you have actioned it, it prevents any mail that is sent to you via "bulk mail" will automatically be sent to your bulk mail folder. You then have the choice to either just delete all the items in that folder with the touch of one button, or you can sift through as normal!

Its easy to navigate, very straightforward and easy to download.

My partner has additional accounts such as talk21, btinternet, and "Elvispresley.com" but noone of these match Hotmail. Btinterent especially (webmail) in comparison is terrible. There are no folders to put your mail in, and basically it is purely to receive mail and send it. No special extras. So if you want a web based email account then hotmail is the best of the bunch.

You can have an additonal feature of the msn messnenger, which I think is the best messenger available. I have tried Yahoo, but that has never once downloaded properly for me, I also have AOL but that is more confusing than hotmail.

You have the choice of appearing online or offline, or to block anyone on your circle of friends, or to just show that you are busy, and all the time you are online you will receive notification if you recieve any mail.

There is also a "talk" function, which has caused many a laugh to me and my circle of friends!!

Msn are constantly updating Hotmail, and I have had my computer less than a year, but have had to update msn three times, so it can only get better.

Im my opinion its getting better, could still do more to improve but it is really usefull as a second email account,!!

An excellent op, although a little more detail on the features would have been appreciated. I have a hotmail account simply because I thought I needed it in order to use MSN. I rarely use it, but I agree, it's the best webbased email out there. However, it doesn't even begin to compare to POP3 mail, which I consider far supieror and a lot quicker. Good op [-Mark-]
