I hate Hotmail. (1) If you don't visit their site, they kill your account after a couple of weeks and you can start all over. (2) You can't pop or forward your email, so you're stuck at their slow and super silly site. Yuck! (3) Even if you have an account and are putting up with all this silly Bill-Gates-Hates-Users-Stuff, they don't let others send you emails! They block all kinds of mailers, from major competitors all the way down to university mail systems! Now, this is really unbelievable! Why should anyone have a hotmail account, if you can't receive mails ... except of course from other hotmail idiots! Oh, gosh! Bill haven't you earned enough yet? How many more years do you want to suck the poor users' blood?

Er no, I've had a Hotmail account for 11 years and can confirm that you can go many months not using it without the account being closed (they USED to do that but not for years now), you can forward mail, and I have no problem receiving mail - if they think an email is suspect you get a message asking if it's OK and you just click accordingly.

They've never shut my account and, as some of my disgruntled relatives will tell you, I only check in every six months or so.

That's a bit of a rant there, but I'd agree that Hotmail isn't for everyone.
