...all those nasty charges? ....then idealing may just be ideal for you!! (www.idealing.com.)
I was doing some research recently on how I could put my little portfolio of shares into an ISA so that the tax man couldn’t get at my profits (if its possible to make any in this market!) The fruits of my research led me to idealing.com.
This is an online broker where you can buy or sell shares for only £10 per trade. Now you ... ...sell at and they will do the rest for you for only another £2.50 per trade! It's amazing to think that while you're busy dealing with the trials and tribulations of everyday life, your computer might be buying or selling for you!!
The ISA wrapper costs only £5 per quarter, which is the cheapest I found in my research. The other bonus is that whilst your money is in cash they give you a generous 3% per annum. There are no nasty charges ... more

This is an online broker where you can buy or sell shares for only £10 per trade. Now you can also name the price you want to buy and sell at and they will do the rest for you for only another £2.50 per trade!
There are no nasty charges when you want your money back either. They receive all the dividends into your account and then send you on the tax vouchers.
Opening the account has been easy. You have to always pay the money in from the same bank account, either by cheque or direct transfer. (This is to make sure you’re not money laundering!) They then send you an e-mail to confirm all is well.
This is a no frills service, which is just what I wanted. No advice. No information about shares (you can get that elsewhere): just straightforward buying, selling and ISA.
Problems? it maybe that if you want to buy some more “exotic” stocks their availability would be limited. The ultra cautious may also want to explore in more detail the security of the accounts your shares are held in – but this is true of all online services. The initial page reassures you that after 30 mins of inactivity the page will close which is comforting should you be called away mid-view!
Verdict: This was my first introduction to online share dealing and the low charges soon outweighed those irrational fears! Maybe, just maybe, now might be the time to get in too, if you can find the value!!
Advantages: quick and cheap Disadvantages: worries about security
...sites contain waffle that one has to sift through before getting down to the nitty gritty. What is more, idealing currenlty offers a fixed charge of £10 for evry trade, irrespective of size, which is a major bonus in comparison to a lot of other stockbrokers. Application is easy ! ...

Advantages: Speed of access. Price of dealing Disadvantages: Limited share selection (2,000+). No option trades.
The first attraction of openning an account was cheap, that should not neccessarily be yours!
This site is lightening fast. It has to be one of the fastest sites of any kind on the net!
Setting up an account was not too traumatic, allow about 10 days to set up an account and pay some money in, minimum 500 GBP.
You can add to your account by direct banking transfer if you have an account, BUT, ensure you transfer money from the same account as ... ...This is definately a no frills service, no info on stocks, you have to seek that information on other sites, but you visit they anyway don't you?
Shares are held in a nominee account, if you want share certificates then you will have to pay an additional fee 5 GBP to have them transfered into your name and posted on.
Certainly a no frills site that may not appeal to everyone but it appeals to me.
Would I recommend it. Yep. Cheap, no frills and ...

Advantages: Its the cheapest in the UK Disadvantages: Poor portfolio tracking, no frills
I have been with iDealing for 2 months now and have moved the majority of my share business to it, from a traditional broker ( Charles Schwab ). I would recommend it to anyone wanting a plain share dealing who has other investment tools from other sites.
iDealing makes a big thing of being cheap and fast. They have very few graphics on their pages, they provide no investment advice, no research, no news, no graphs, no links to other sites etc. etc. ... ...leveraged dealing or limits then iDealing isn't for you. In summary, I would advise anyone who wants to deal online, use iDealing but get your prices and info from iii or ukinvest or any of the other info sites.
I've not had any problems with service outages, rouge prices or inability to deal, and I deal most days. ...

Advantages: Nothing that anyone else can provide Disadvantages: Charges, lack of information
Be careful and read the small print.. £5 per quarter per account - that is times 2 if you have an ISA account (you need a standard account as well), this is not clear in their charges structure. Exit fees are high £60 PER ACCOUNT - I am trying to get out now, so another £120 down the drain. Statements are only available online for 1 year - I didn't realise, and if I want statements now it is going to cost £££. I didn't realise my standard account ... ...checked my ISA account), with added interest, the deficit is now over £300. No reminder emails over 6 years that account balance was in arrears. I have asked if their terms and conditions have changed over the past 9 years, and whether I was notified - the emails are now ignored. I would not recommend. ...

Advantages: Non above other providers Disadvantages: No customer service phone, £60 charge to close account. Hard to withdraw YOUR money.
I have decided NOT to open an account with this company. WHY? Well see if you can find a phone number to talk to them directly about any problems or questions you may have. I couldn't! An email reply that took 8 hours to receive told me they would give me a number for their traders room WHEN I had opened an account. Would you buy a car without seeing it first? ( And this line is to traders only .... it is NOT a customer help line, this still has ... ...with them to open an account. If you decide their service is not for you they will charge you £60 for closing the account!!! Would you hand over £60 to test drive that car you may not want?
If you want to withdraw your own hard earned money from their account you need to download and fill in a form, then post it to them, then wait. How quaint in an modern world. I thought the point of electronic internet trading was to speed things up, not step ...

I moved to a new flat few months ago. A couple of weeks after I moved I got my first bill and I though "£70!!!! for 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!". I tried to do my best trying to save as much as possible and keeping the heating off whenever I could. I demanded for the company to come and read the meter.....it took them weeks to finally do it!
Although the company knew I was having a problem with the reading of the meter and that it was there fault they were constantly sendind reminders...and reminders that everntually became threads about coming in and disconnecting the supply..eventually they sent a telegram with a last notice....I though.."are they crazy?" They made me so mad! It didn't matter how much I complained and how much they apologized....the reminders kept coming and the bill became amazingly higher.
After hundreds of phone ...

Advantages: None really Disadvantages: you need to be cautious at every step or will get looted
The move coordinator was extremely cheeky. She coerced me into sending a acceptance (by email), whilst a) a move date was not confirmed, b) i had not completed the payment (therefore did not yet takeup the cancellation waiver). But when i dropped the deal, she treatened me to pay the cancellation fees of 50% of the full charges. How can i pay cancellation charges on a deal that is not done. How can accepting a price mean i am into the deal. Well, i am not a lawyer and therefore i don't know. As of now, i am not going to pay and i'll see where it goes. But for anyone else out there, please be very very careful as to what you agree to with them. It looks like they want to some how get your money off you, one way or another. ...

I have had a mortgage with Alliance for just over a year now. I got a fixed rate deal with £250 cash back. So far I have been more than happy with it.

When i was looking for a mortgage, at the time this was the best by far although on other occassions when ive needed a mortgage the deals available werent particually attractive. I would suggest using an independant advisor to find the best deals available.
Speed

My mortgage offer came quite quick and with little fuss in the mean time. The whole process from agreement in pricipal to completion was around 2 months. The surveyer was out within a week of applying for the product and he was goosd - picking up on some points which i could use to renegotiate.
