My daughter received a ipod for her birthday and looking for inexpsive ‘filler’ gifts for her to open, I stumbled upon this on Amazon. She has quite a few rubber ducks which she’ll throw in the bath all at the same time so I thought this floating wireless rubber duck speaker was absolutely perfect for her. She absolutely loves it and I often struggle to get her out of the bath as she loves dancing away in the bath to her favourite tunes. The novelty certainly hasn’t worn off like I expected it would and for the relatively cheap price of around £15 it has been worth its price.

The iDuck is a floating wireless speaker. It’s not the best quality speaker in the wolrd and aslong as you don’t go expecting Bang & Olufsen quality you won’t be let down. I would say you are definitely paying more for the gimmick of the item rather than the quality but for a floating waterproof speaker what can you really expect?! It certainly makes bathtime more interesting.

It is really easy to use and we haven’t had any problems with it at all. There is a transmitter that comes with it that looks like an egg and you simply plug it into the transmitter, leave it away from the bath and the duck receives the signal and plays whatever you have selected on your ipod. The transmitter has quite a good range – around 10 metres or so. t also has a FM radio but my daughter has only used this once or twice.

The transmitter and the duck are both powered by batteries 3 x AAA for the transmitter and 2 x AAA for the duck so you will need to stock up on batteries when you purchase this iduck, but they do last a while and don’t seem to drain up the power from the batteries. I did use lithium batteries though (I luckily had some in for an old camera as I had forgotten to buy them when I ordered them online) so I’m unsure how quickly it would go through standard batteries. It is worth mentioning that to insert the batteries you have to have a screwdriver handy, which I always find annoying, but this is obviously for safety with the use of the item in water.

The quality of the duck isn’t amazing, but again it’s a gimmicky item and doesn’t pretend to be any high quality product so the plasticky feel of it and fairly small size of the duck is probably what you would expect.

I have seen similar items like this that have had mood lighting inside the duck, which would have been a nice little extra but for the price it’s as it should be.
