A friend of mine recently told me about iGoogle and about how good it was so I decided to have a look into it myself..
iGoogle is basically a homepage that is designed to be fully customisable. In a similar way to the BBC's new website (where you can move things around), iGoogle is done in the same way.
The content is what you can choose. It uses "Gadgets" to fill up the page. For example, you can get a gadget that links iGoogle to your Gmail account and this creates a little box on the homepage that shows your inbox and if you have any new emails. From here you can just click on the email and it will load it up.
There are some really useful gadgets on iGoogle. The main ones include the news, weather and stocks and shares. As well as these there are loads and loads of fun gadgets like hangman, tetris, Mario, Quote of the day, Joke of the day, and the list goes on.
You can also customise the design of the page. You can select different themes and the homepage will change each time you refresh the page. There are also some themes that change based on the weather. For example, there is one theme where there are a group of people at the bus stop. Once you set your location, they will change based on your weather so if it is supposed to be raining where you are then they will have umbrella's. It's not anything amazing but very clever.
You are also given the option of having different tabs so you can separate your gadgets so you might have one tab for news and weather, another for games and so on.
It does also have a search function at the top of the page as that's the main reason people look at google in the first place!
The one bad thing I find is that it is still very American based and there needs to be more things from the UK. For most of the items this isn't an issue but you see a fair few gadgets about CNN or Fox news and not enough from people like the BBC. Also, there are gadgets such as traffic updates, petrol price updates and cinema listings but these are all American. If these were done for the UK then it would be brilliant
Overall I really like it. I find it gives me access to most of the things I want and if I ever get bored then it gives me something to do.
