This mp3 player is the ultimate "shuffle killer". It is slightly bigger than Apple's mini player but the difference is... the screen.
The most impressive aspect of the s10 is its size. Iriver packed all the features that good mp3 players from other brands have in this tiny device.

It is actually really strange and it takes time to get used to the size and the "close to nothing" weight of the s10.

The software provided by Iriver is really good. I haven't use a lot of music management software so I can't really compare but you can do the usual things like managing playlists or ripping CDs.
It's a shame that the screensaver is only displayed for a few seconds.
I paid £99 and I have absolutely no regrets even though it is twice the price of the new 1Gb Shuffle.

The quality of the sound is really good. I recommend purchasing other earphones (I make the most of my s10 with some senheiser cx300 in-ear buds which costed me an extra £15)
The fm radio has a good reception and you can record what you are listening to. You are allowed to select 3 different format for you recordings.
Regarding the supported formats I only tried Mp3, wma and ogg but apparently it supports asf as well
The navigation in the menus is really easy. You can flip the screen. Personnally I prefer the default orientation (with the volume on the left)
The s10 can display pictures but doesn't support video.
To use the "hold" function you will have to press both volume buttons at the same time which sounds like a tricky thing to do but I managed to get used to it.
However if you don't want to use it you will have to press once on any button to activate the screen and then you will be able to press again to change song for example.
The battery life is around 7 hours. (Iriver claims it should be around 8 but I guess it depends on how you use it)

Be aware that people will keep staring at you as the s10's design is amazing!
The iRiver S10 (2GB) is ludicrously tiny, and just 1.9g heavier than the new iPod Shuffle, but, unlike Apple's offering, it comes with a built-in screen.
