Well I hope I am reviewing the correct site, this is one I use a lot, but go straight to the Home Page, which is I.Village.co.uk. This is a site aimed at women (though a few guys use it too). It's easy to use, free and like Ciao, you have your own profile and "handle".Also free is a weekly newsletter on your own interests. The Home Page is set out in this way: Special Features.------ Topics on a certain theme, currently Valentines Day .With hints on how to spice up your love-life to where to go for a "dirty weekend".
Top Ten----- The current "hot" or most-used features.Free horoscopes, quizzes (love these), competions, how to find a date, news and views.
Sevices---- Message Boards, Newsletters, auctions, etc. These are set at the side of the page and are frequently up-dated.
Similar to Ciao are the normal interest categories, to name a few; Beauty, Health/Fitness, Money, Food and Drink, Travel, Work/Careers.
From a main category eg. Travel, there are then three sub-categories, using this example would be Family, Ideas, Spa's. Click on Family which leads you to articles on family holidays, what to take, where to go, what to pay. Underneath these are a link to the message board on this topic. All the main categories work in a similar way.
A quicker way of going to the message boards is via a header at the top of the page, but you must log-in if participating in chats or merely browsing through. Each message board is hosted by a CL (community leader) who will lead a discussion and give feedback to members. I have been a member for two years now and have still not visited all the boards. One I go to frequently is the Health Board. Nothing is more annoying than going to the doctor's, coming out with a prescription for pills with advice you forget within minutes of leaving the surgery. It is MY body and I need to know how I will feel personally about my health. So I can either browse the boards for advice, type in a search or post a message for help.If I am answering a members query, I get a choice of "emotican", which is anything from agree, help, hugs, puzzled etc. After typing your message, you can then preview it before sending. Another favourite site is "working from home", in fact I found Ciao through this board, recommended by a lot of home-workers in an honest, clear manner. This is where the "emoticians" come into play, a circle with ? in it is obviously a question. A Lightbulb ia a good business idea. This is a very popular board, members post ideas, warn against "scams", tell you of their own experiences and rate your own business ideas. The Support Boards are truley inspirational, there are a lot of women out there who really care and suppport each other. I have used the travel board to get tips on bargain holidays, flights etc. If a board is on a really serious subject, there are allways links to other websites for proffessional advice, but I like finding out I am not alone with a problem. It would spoil it for you to list all the boards, I recommend you have a look, it doen't cost anything. On the main page, I have had quite a few "freebies", the best being a day at a health centre for two....sigh..it was great!. **************************************** Summary...... A very good site, updated frequently, the message boards range from serious to light-hearted and you make loads of friends. You can choose whether or not you want personal e-mails. So, to end on a light note, I used the service for "naming your baby", I was curious to find out what my three forenames meant. 1st: God's Oath 2nd: Light Bearer 3rd: Of noble birth. Since I come from a working class background, the only light I bear is a "torch" for an ex- boyfriend and I frequently take the Lord's name in vain, someone has their wires twisted! ***************************************
Advantages: Good place to meet like minded people Disadvantages: Pop ups!!! Adverts all over!
...***** How I found ivillage *****
I was looking at some random baby sites trying to get some pregnancy advice and help.
**** Pregnancy Calendar *****
I came across ivillages Pregnancy Calendar.
You put in your dates and it tells you when you baby is due.
It's fantastic, it tells you what is happening to your body and your baby at a particular time. It's obviously not 100% accurate, but it gives you a rough idea.
**Example:**
6th July 24 weeks' ... ...my house.
***** Using ivillage *****
Using ivillage is easy. They have a search engine within it so if you're not too sure where the information you need might be you can find it by searching for it.
All the topics are layed out easy to find and the subtopics are shown clearly under it.
***** Good Points *****
* Plantly of information about almost anything you need.
* Real Woman real problems real answers
* Friendly people
* Has fun and games ...

Advantages: Wide variety of very useful, friendly boards. Disadvantages: None!
...favourite websites to visit.
iVillage is a useful website in itself, with great articles on a plethora of subjects relating to women, for instance parenting, beauty, haircare, sex, relationships, fashion, health and there's even competitions and fun quizzes to complete if you've got a little spare time on your hands! The website is an absolute goldmine of information!
However, iVillage really shines with it's hugely extensive selection of message ... ...men using the boards although iVillage is primarily for women. The majority of people using the boards are extremely friendly, sympathetic to your problems and grateful for your input - the reason people post here is to get lots of help and opinions from others, so you're always welcome as long as you aren't rude or disrespectful in your questions or replies. Every single board is hosted by a Community Leader to aid your safety - you'll know who ...
