WHAT IS FEESCH?

I found Feesch by accident. Feesch - naff name, but a great site. Feesch is a 35k community of 'UK' ICQ users. (ICQ is a worldwide chat programme, also free to download). To join Feesch, visit the site and click 'JOIN'. You don't need a credit card, because Feesch is free. You will now be able to enter details that you wish to include on your profile, which is the page of information, about you, that any of the other 35k members can see. It is essential to add here that each profile has the same short and easy web-page address, but the web address is followed by the member’s unique ICQ number. I add this information because it means that anyone who knows your ICQ number can see your Feesch page, and anyone who sees your Feesch profile will then automatically be able to read your ICQ details; it's a good idea to be sure they are at least similar!! I consider my Feesch profile to be my very own web page, I can remember the address and often pass the address on to others. I am certainly no geek, that's how I know Feesch is user friendly, if I can do it, anyone can!!

Your Feesch profile has several sections; here is a summary of each to help you know how to get the best out of Feesch.

NICKNAME/ PHOTO/ COMMENTS

So, choose a snazzy nickname, which you can change at anytime and next job to do is to add a pic/image to your profile, this is easy too, and optional! Add a sentence or two about who you are, what you like to do, something that will attract the kind of contact you are looking for. Lot's of people find love on Feesch, but relax, don't seem desperate for love, and you will certainly find some new friends.

FEESCH QUESTIONS

You also have an option to complete a 50 Question questionnaire, with completely irrelevant questions that are fun for others to read. Don't fill this in if you don't fancy it, I have only completed 14 of my 50 questions, you can amend it at any time, or just fill it in later. It is often helpful to look through other people's Feesch questions, to avoid repetition, and boy are they fun to read!! (And the answers can range from very honest to hilarious)

INTEREST GROUPS

Now the real fun starts!! Now you can look through the groups, which you will find listed using the link marked 'groups' on your profile. Each interest group has its very own message board about the related topic. On this page you can see the 'members' and the 'messages' links, just choose the one you wish to view. The list of members has a link to their pages, and each person who has posted a message also has a link. It is a world of real people all interacting! I jump from profile to profile, following links and using the search facilities to see as many profiles as I can, it is all done at a touch of a button, and it's all free!

So, if you like the sound of a group? Just click 'join group' and then decide whether or not you choose to show the group on your profile, an example of groups you may not wish to show on your profile may include sexual ones, i.e. BDSM, or some personal support ones, i.e. depression, asthma or mental health. At the groups front page, you can also request to receive one email a day showing all the postings on the interest boards you are a member of.
When you have decided about emails, and whether to show the group on your profile or not, click 'update settings'. You can now post on the interest group message board and you are a group member! No fees, no registration or hassle!

It's nice when new group members say hello and add a comment or two about the current chat topic. It is always nice to think new members have taken the time to read some previous messages on the board, as it shows their obvious interest.
My own interest groups selections range from 'thirty something', 'motorcycles', through to 'conspiracy theories' and 'big brother'. You will find a warm welcome in all groups, and remember, every message posted links directly to the profile/page of the person who posted, ideal if, like me, you wish to see a face behind the words.

FEESCH/ICQ LINK

If you see a profile with someone of common interests, or a face that fits, or the boards show a personality you wish to explore, just click 'send message', at the bottom of the profile and wahey, you are DIRECTLY linked to their ICQ, and a normal ICQ message box appears. Everything from there is confidential!!

EVENTS/MEETS

Perhaps the best thing about Feesch, for me, is the events. It seems weird to write this, but ANYONE can run an event. My partner and I have organised a booze cruise for November, it's just a case of people getting their own tickets and meeting together on the boat!! It's as simple as that. No one ever makes any profit from events, which are held all over the UK. An example of a successful event is as simple as meeting in a safe group for a drink in a pub. Themed nights are particularly popular, with fancy dress optional - some themes so far have been - nautical, yellow, show ya eggs night at Easter, hats, togas, angels and devils, back to school, and wigs!! So don't worry about your clothes at events, cause most people look as daft as ever!! Events are a safe way to meet other people like you in public, they are non-threatening, have no arrangement fee and each event has a message board for updates and chats about the impending event!! Your profile lets people know which events you may be attending, and there is an event somewhere in the UK most Friday and Saturday nights. There are also some larger events that have a whole weekend of fun and attract members from all over the UK.

After an event, take a look at the pics!! There are hundreds of event pics to look through. Event pics are posted after each event, so if you want to know what might go on at an event, take a look, under 'event photos'!! Look out for me!!
Events I personally have been to include 'Back to school in Portsmouth', 'Bowling in Poole', 'Ski-bobbing in Dorset', xmas Chinese meal, 'Stonehenge Solstice', 'vicars and tarts in Wigan', Christmas drinks in London and a nautical themed meet in Southampton. I have enjoyed every one. The events must be good, or I wouldn't have been to so many, or travelled some long distances for the fun!!

If you like the look of an event, just look down the 'attendees' list to see who wants/offers accommodation/travel, and check out the profiles of those attending!! AND, if you are not sure if you can make it, put yourself down for a 'maybe' or a 'possibly'. You are not obliged to attend, and can just remove your name at any time, no one makes a fuss, it's an easygoing world in Feeschland.

VISITOR RECORD/FAVOURITES/LEADERBOARD

The next best thing about Feesch is that you can see the page/profile of people who have visited your page, it's kinda voyeuristic, and I love it! Add a page to your 'favourites' and you will be told when someone you like has updated their page! Your page/profile also shows the last time you logged into Feesch, so you can check when members last logged in, saving wasting time on 'dormant' members. Your visitor leaderboard lists your top ten visitors, and is great to see if you have any fans that look at your profile often!

CHAT ROOM

I must also mention the chat room; it's busy every night, and all UK people!! It uses IRC, I just clicked the link and it downloaded in seconds and I was able to chat, so it's easy and foolproof!

GOLD MEMBERSHIP/GUESTBOOKS

Gold membership and guest books are extras you can purchase, I have both, both very worth the tincy wincy price of a tenner!! The guest book is brilliant and a great ego boost for the owner. I have had my guest book for about a month and have over 50 messages! (I'm not the popular one, Feesch is!)

SEARCH FACILITIES.

The search facility is state of the art!! Do a pic search if you want to see any new pics posted, but be warned, all pics of an adult nature are monitored for levels of obscenity and are protected by a warning prior to opening! This warning shows as a 15 cert. If you want, you can do a 15-cert pic search. You can also search 'new joiners' and your home page shows you how many new members have joined since your last search, as well as showing all those who are 'newly Gold'. (See above about Gold membership).

You can also search various fields, the easiest is perhaps 'ICQ number' - just fill in the ICQ number of the person you want to see and if they have a profile, it appears!! Other fields to search by include: min age/max age, UK area, image/pic, gender, when they joined, or when they visited your profile. Other search options that can be found in the 'search' drop down menu on your home page include:

1. 'Search guestbooks' - this shows a list of all guest book owners, with links to their profiles/pages.

2. 'Search icons' - this allows you to search the Gold members who have personalised icons by their name. Icons show the faces or symbols that gold members have chosen to be beside their name in their message board postings. If you choose to 'go Gold', you just email your chosen picture or clipart to the Listmaster who runs Feesch and it will appear by your name!

3. 'Search boards' - this allows you to search all the message boards using certain fields. You can key in the ICQ number of any member and all the messages they have posted will appear before you. This is a great facility, and you have quite a choice of fields if you want to be very precise about the criteria of the profile you are looking for.

4. 'Search galleries' - this allows you to search picture/image names. I did a search under 'hippy' and my page came up, with three others that have a pic called 'hippy' in their galleries. (See below about galleries).

5. 'Search history' - this lets you search your visitors. It offers an option of search fields and will tell you who fills the requested criteria about who has visited your page. It gives you the dates and time of every visit.

6.Online users - this is a search for users that have their ICQ running and are showing a green flower, this means they are showing as available to chat.
There are six more search choices other than what I have included here, but I have mentioned the ones I personally find most useful.

GALLERY

On your Feesch profile, you have a space called your 'gallery'. This is the place to post/upload all those pics that other members might like to see. In your gallery you can post comical pics, face pics, 15 cert pics, pic of your bike, your car, you on a mountain, you as a baby, pic of your mum's false teeth, and just about anything you could save to your PC!! Everyone likes to look at pictures, especially pictures of people they could talk to at a click of a button!

CONCLUSION

Feesch is run by Jason Shallcross, LizardMan, who will help anyone with a problem, he is reachable under the 'contact us' option. 'Contact us' is found by waving your cursor over the word 'info', which can be found at the top your home page. The listmaster (Jason) attends Feesch meets all over the Country. (He and his gal have met hundreds of Feesch members) Jason deals with any queries or concerns, whilst also running and upgrading the site, creating personalised icons, posting event pics from different members, attending events, watching the friendships develop and much much more, the site is proof of his hard work and dedication.

Finally, Feesch will email anyone who chooses with a fantastically amusing newsletter with the Feesch news!! It's a great read, and I have NEVER had any Spam from Feesch via my email, the monthly newsletter is brilliant!!
