From my experience it seems Kazaa is no longer functionning properly and you may be better to look for other file sharing web sites to download your music. After reinstalling many versions of Kazaa over the last couple of months I have been unable to keep any up and running.
After a $100 million dollar payout to the music industry July last year it appears Kazaa has fallen out of favour. This huge pay out may be the reason for the lack of maintenance ...

Advantages: free music, easy downloading Disadvantages: spyware in most versions
I have not used kazaa in a few months now due to lots of corrupted music downloads and the fact im on dial-up mean i can only download a limited number of songs per week.
This is a great peer to peer sharing program but it does have some serious drawbacks.
In most of the versions of the software there is spyware,ads and popups that are most annoying. There is now lots of dead music on there, usually you can tell if you are downloading one of these ... ...the inbult player.
I have tried several peer to peer downloading softwares such as limewire and bitcommet etc and I have now moved on and download music from napster and buying music singles and albums from shops.
Since i have started using napster I have never had a faulty track and althought it costs a small amount to buy the music it is well worth it knowing that it is going to be good quality and what you what.

Everyone loves to get something for free so it's no real surprise that kazaa has been downloaded over 150 million times since it was released a few years ago.

Advantages: Free Files of absolutely anything imaginable, Includes Family Filter Disadvantages: Many users have virus' on their PC so make sure you use a virus checker!, If only 1 person on Kazaa has this very rare file and they log off sadly you have to wait until they log back on to download it.
Well since Napster shut its doors a while ago I've converted to being a Kazaa lite user. I find Kazaa is Very good for downloads, whether it be Movies, games or music you are after many of the users offer a wide variety of different things. The best part about Kazaa is that it is free to download and use so all you pay is your phone bill (if you are not paying monthly ). Being a broadband user many users speeds depend on their connection even if ... ...56KB modem so it'll take the time of a 56KB modem to transfer onto your system so this can effect the rate of transfer from one machine to another. I would recommend it to everybody that has a large enough computer to download files onto :-)

First of all, what is Kazaa?
Kazaa is a program that has the ability for people to share files with each other no matter what country they live in or how far apart they are from each other. Kazaa is a Peer-to-Peer software. Kazaa is literally a huge database of files from every user, such as music, pictures and software.
When you search for a file in Kazaa you are checking the files of everybody online to see if they have that file or something ... ...is determined by the bandwith of the other users. A standard dial-up modem which has a dencent bandwidth can download at around 4kb/s. Even if you have broadband, and download from someone who has a dial-up connection, you can only downlaod as quick as they upload. So the speed may still be 4kb/s. The best way to speed up Kazaa your download is to download file used by many users which have a high bandwidth.
