Occasionally I do enjoy indulging in eating chocolates. My favourite chocolate I enjoy eating at the moment happens to be Baileys Chocolate Truffle bar, as this is arguably good value at £1 a bar from Poundland stores. With this being a Product of the Week as well, also raised my interest in reviewing Kinder Bueno White, as I reviewed Kit Kat Senses around two years ago. If you are comparing Kinder Bueno White, from the standard Bueno chocolate then Kit Kat Senses from the taste and texture is very similar indeed. I also had a good look as to where Kinder Bueno White is sold and unfortunately I only managed to find this at my local news agency in Uxbridge which is in Middlesex. I searched other likely shops and supermarkets and was only able to find the standard Bueno chocolate and not this 'White chocolate' version. I visited my local Tesco Metro, Tesco Express supermarket, WhSmith, Poundland, a news agency, as well as my local Londis, and all of whom did not have this Kinder Bueno white chocolate product. My only stroke of luck was at a local newsagent.
I also have eaten the standard Bueno chocolate on many occasions and have found that the Bueno standard brown coloured chocolate to be somewhat standard. If anyone who tells you that this is luxury chocolate needs examination in my honest opinion. It certainly is indulging although my consumption of chocolate in absolute terms has fallen significantly over the past 12 months. I prefer to eat sandwiches home made, and for a sweet treat, I do prefer eating nice cakes as opposed to chocolate sweets. To make this a thorough and complete review I purchased two of these Kinder Bueno White chocolate bars and was charged a total of £1,20 for two or 60p each bar. It is also fair to say that this is a certainly a niche type of chocolate as most other chocolate bars are standard chocolate in terms of colour. I also have tried Milky Way chocolate when I was much younger, and will always consider a Kinder Bueno to be very similar to Kit Kat Senses, as judging from the texture as well as taste the two have nice amounts of chocolate biscuit and that caramel flavour in between the biscuit. Both Kit Kat Senses and Kinder Bueno are sweet although two years ago, I did notice that by comparison Kit Kat Senses was not as sweet and sugary compared to Kinder Bueno chocolate.
The Kinder Bueno white chocolate is a distinctive brand, as it has their wavy orange and white main colours. In each pack there are two bars of this chocolate. Even the packaging gives away a lot of the information on the product itself. The product claims that it is a 'White chocolate covered wafer with a milky and hazelnut filling'. The product itself weighs 43 grams, compared to Kit Kat senses product weight of 31 grams. By buying this Kinder Bueno white chocolate product, you are getting more chocolate. I paid 60 pence which makes this product less value for money, as from my walk in Uxbridge I could not find it anywhere else cheaper. Also on the back of the packet it shows what is inside the chocolate by saying that it is a 'crispy wafer covered in smooth white chocolate, also it is decorated with chocolate sprinkles and delicious smooth milky hazelnut filling. Also on the packaging are the full ingredients and nutritional values that is found on all chocolate products.
Upon opening this product, gives a nice and pleasant aroma of the milk chocolate and arguably this is the flavourings used inside the chocolate, although the packaging does not state which flavourings. I noticed a hint of vanilla and some butter taste before I tried the chocolate bar.
I found this rather strange in appearance; there are four pieces to each single bar. There are two bars to each product. The noticeable thing is that there are chocolate sprinkles on the base of each piece, consistent in appearance, and the chocolate sprinkles are also decorated across the middle of each small segment of the chocolate bar. The chocolate is white, and the mould of each piece in the bar is square shaped with round edges. Each finger bar is wrapped in clear plastic which is easy to open and designed to keep the freshness and flavour in theory at least.
The chocolate bar is layered slightly, although from a eating perspective is slightly disappointing. I noticed and tasted a buttery base part of the chocolate, a sugary and somewhat hazelnut flavour which did not add much when eating this. I was not impressed by the chocolate sprinkles which to be honest added some sweetness, and the texture itself was disappointing overall. I did try two packets of this at different intervals of the day, and came to the conclusion that the texture is not very well layered. The base is sugary and dry, inside the chocolate the filling was not impressive, or excellent in anyway. The shape of the chocolate also is a bit good either. From what I read on the packaging there is only 26,5% white chocolate which is not much, although from what there is out there on the market, it is sufficient in terms of the amount of chocolate in this product. The main thing I disliked was that the chocolate bar contained too much butter from the middle and top half of the chocolate piece and was let down by having too little milk chocolate. In fact I could not taste much chocolate that would inspire or lead me to buy this product again. I would also come to the point, that from the texture, that the chocolate was let down by having too much emphasis on what is a soft chocolate piece overall. Also, the outer coating of white chocolate, with sprinkles which appear to be sugary really adds little in the way of the overall enjoyment of this product.
Buy it once to try it for yourself. I came to the conclusion after eating 2 bars for review kudos sake, that this is definitely a chocolate to avoid. Kit Kat Senses is a more plausible alternative. I also was only able to find this at my local news agency, as I also assume that head office buyers from leading supermarkets, also are not silly.
In terms of talking about the specific criteria that Ciao want answers for, I rate the taste as nothing more than average. I found nothing that would draw me into buying this chocolate again, other than for the purpose of eating a poor quality chocolate. I found the after taste to be sugary, and somewhat sickly. The combination of sugar, hazelnuts, white chocolate and the way the chocolate is made and layered is not good. There is nothing in this life worse than having a sickly milk taste in your mouth combined with sweet sugar. The packaging is nothing more than an eye catching advert for children and young adults who should know better. I say this as the product uses bold colours and the product is wrapped up in fun way. I would not say the packaging is sophisticated but what I would say having tried out the product is that the chocolate does not live up to the visually appealing packaging. My overall opinion regarding the product quality is not good either, as the average appearance combined with the factors that made this a fairly non complimentary two fingers of chocolate did not meet my expectations.
I have also reviewed Kit Kat Senses and a lot of other chocolate products. I do feel that I have reviewed this honestly as well as fairly. I have not padded this with a list of ingredients or nutritional information as you can find that easily. a complete review indeed,
Disgraces Pure radio for it's less than impressive product quality
