The website is the personal site of Swedish illustrator Andreas Lindkvist. I came across it a few years ago, although I can’t remember why, and still return to it from time to time to look at his cute, quirky designs and send ecards.
The site’s main purpose, I imagine, is for Andreas to show off his work and lure potential clients. He draws cute, unusual characters in funky urban scenes and he seems to have found a market for his work in some very cool websites and brochures.
If you’re looking for useful stuff, there is a range of stylish, informal fonts available for download. They’re free if they’re for non-commercial use and there’s a reasonably priced font package available for commercial use. Fonts are available for both mac and pc.
His range of ecards also offer some of the most unusual and bright designs I’ve seen on the web. There are lots of fun ones to send to friends just to say hi or tell them how bad your day at work is!
Most of the other downloads are only mac-friendly. There are lots of icons, screensavers and desktop images available to download as well as cute book labels and giftbox templates to print out.
If you’re looking for a way to display your work in an online portfolio, I really recommend taking a looks at Andreas’s. It’s very simple and easy to use. He also has a great range of links to similar sites - many of them showcasing the work of Japanese designers.
It’s been interesting watching Andreas’s designs change over the last few years but they’ve always been fun and the site has always been well laid out and easy to use.
