GALLOPING ONLINE WITH THE BLACK HORSE
I have been banking with Lloyds Bank (now LloydsTSB) for a long time. For the last eight or nine years, most of my transactions have been online.
I had a few worries when Lloyds Bank and the TSB (Trustee Savings Bank) merged, but it didn’t seem to affect customer service as much as I had expected, and my loyalty seemed to be still appreciated.
In 1999 I was introduced to the internet, and I had my first e-mail address. I'm not quite sure when LloydsTSB started offering internet banking, but I was quick to take advantage of it.
I was sent a user ID number in the post, and I chose my own password. I had to choose a memorable phrase of which three characters would be selected at random (such as the fifth, ninth and eleventh). Drop-down menus of letters and numbers ensured that keystrokes could not be recorded, and it was not the same ones each time, so someone trying to track it could not easily break the security. This was very secure, and could be used anywhere you could get online.
They decided to use a device for extra security, and issued some of us with little keyfob security devices which generated a random six digit number when pressed which would be only valid for a short while. These (I believe) actually contain mini transmitters, which somehow link to the system. The system knows what number has been generated and validates your login, and also validates each transaction it asks you to confirm, as you are setting up direct debits, transfers and payments online.
HOW IT WORKS: When you type the URL www.lloydstsb.com into the internet address bar, you come to a "Welcome to lloydstsb.com" page
There are headings for anything you might want to know about different accounts and services which are offered by the bank. In the right hand corner, under the green tabs, is "Welcome to Lloyds TSB" and below that is a little grey section [Internet Banking] with two blue buttons Personal Log on and Business Log on and a further underlined link Register now. Registration requires that you be over 16, have a LloydsTSB product to register for internet banking, an e-mail address, and to agree to the T&Cs before you register. Joint account holders have to register separately. You will need to create and remember a password and keep it secure. Once you have registered, you will be issued with a user ID ~ mine is nine digits, and an Access Code Device. You need to confirm safe arrival of the device, and then you are ready to use the Internet Banking Service.
When you are on the Welcome page, you will need to press the Personal Log on button. This will bring you to a page where you type in your User ID, then your password, then Continue.
The next page you press your Access Device and type the six digit number you see, and press Continue. Sometimes you will see an announcement or warning, which you click when you have read, and sometimes you are directly on the Internet Banking Account Overview.
"Welcome back, Jessie" is above the list of my Accounts, both active and currently inactive.
All your current accounts and savings accounts are listed in the first section; account name (and sort-code and number), balance, overdraft limit (where applicable), and options. Any Credit cards are listed in the next section, with account name (and 16 digit number), balance, credit limit, and options. There is also a column of links to the left hand side, and a quick transfer section, where you can transfer immediately between accounts listed in the first section without needing to use your access device.
Your list of Options you can do varies according to the type of account it is. Some options just link you to another service for which you can sign up (^). The main options I use are "Statement" and "Transfers & Payments"
For Current accounts:
Statement ~ goes back for as long as the account has been online
Transfers & Payments ~ here you can arrange to pay bills or transfer to an account not your own.
Bill Manager ^ (a new service)
Standing Orders ~ see all your standing orders
Direct Debits ~ see all your DDs, when they were last paid, and how much
Save the Change ^ (when you use your debit card, it automatically rounds up to nearest £ and transfers into nominated savings)
Overdraft
Upgrade your account ^ (if you want to pay a fee and have additional benefits) .
For Savings accounts:
Statement ~ goes back as long as account online
Transfers & Payments
Bill Manager ^ .
For Credit Cards:
Statement
Payment Protection
Balance Transfer
Manage your PIN
Amend Credit Limit
Additional Cardholder
Set up Direct Debit
Bill Manager ^ .
If you want to use the additional services there are both drawbacks and benefits, but mainly you can see at an instant what is available in any of your accounts and make adjustments where required to make sure you maximise your benefits and don't have charges.

MY ORIGINAL QUICK REVIEW: . . . . the reason l like my LloydsTSB online banking, and internet Online Savings account is the instant transfer . . . in fact, the whole online account set-up was virtually instant, with it being opened by transferring money from other accounts directly online . . . no extra proof of identity required . . . and all my accounts, even credit card are visible online, with current balances showing (although credit card transfer is not instantaneous) . . . l can use the quick transfer feature on both current and savings accounts . . . and when the page has loaded, the balances have changed on all accounts involved . . . not only that, but l can instantly transfer money to ANY OTHER LloydsTSB account, and have done so, to help each of my four children in turn, in emergency . . . although l have to transfer from online saver into another account first .
Thanks for READING! Hope this is of some use to you!

Advantages: Online Loans very quick, easy and hassle free Disadvantages: Possibly too easy to get your hands on the cash
...website. Due to banking with Lloyds TSB i decided that they would be my first point of call to obtaining the car of my dreams that i would drive off into the sunset clutching a beautif......sorry, got carried away with my writing.
The Application
____________
As previously mentioned i bank with Lloyds so they already had my personal details and knew how i managed my account. This really sped up the application process. I didnt have to enter anything ... ...from the account itself. The only items i had to specify was the loan amount and the loan period. I found this part of the site very easy and helpful to use as it gave you the opportunity to experiement. Eg, you could see how much 3k would cost over 24 months and then see how much 3.5k would cost over 30 months. It then gave you the opportunity to revert any of your previous quotes with immeadiate effect. The next decision i had to make was how to ...

Advantages: Great banking services Disadvantages: You really don't need both
I have been with Lloyds TSB for over 2 years now and have never looked back. From the moment I entered my local branch to open my account I felt welcome and a valued customer unlike my feeling in Barclays. With my account open and my Visa Electron card and cheque book in the post I felt pleased with myself that I had made the right choice.
Recently though I have been inundated with junk mail from them, trying to make me join up to their Internet ... ...that it is totally free. Lloyds charge you no subscription fee, all you pay for is the phone bill and what ever your Internet provider charges you, and if like me your with Lineone surf time its practically nothing.
When you sign up, which is very easy, you get your own ID and password. Once in the secure service you will find help pages explaining what's what on each screen, although most of the service is self explanatory. If though you do come ...

Advantages: Easy way to keep track of finances Disadvantages: Can be slow at times
Lloyds TSB internet banking lets you manage your finances, apply for loans, credit cards, mortgages & pay off bills from home or anywhere with internet access. It seems very secure, you have a 9 digit username which is randomly given to you to prevent people guessing then you have a password which much be more than 6 digits & preferably a mix of letters & numbers. You then also have to enter your memorable information which very similar to a password ... ...is very easily done as Lloyds gives you clear concise instructions.
On your account overview screen you will see a left hand column, this is where you can apply for things like loans & mortgages. You can even set up your mobile services which is basically where you can receive text messages informing you of your current balance on a certain day & time of every week. This is free but if you require the entire mobile services package which includes ...

Advantages: Internet Banking Disadvantages: Always trying to sell you something if you use the branch
I began banking with the T.S.B. at the tender age of 18 and from day one had no end of grief.
I must admit at this juncture that much of this was of my own doing, getting overdrawn and basically pratting them about. Eventually, I grew up; a prolonged spell of unemployment does that to even the most stupid and arrogant 21 year old.
When my account was reactivated, along with securing gainful employment once again, I refused a chequebook and settled ... ...for being overdrawn!
I didn’t have an overdraft facility and therefore the machine would only dispense the amount available in my account. The ‘helpful’ assistant to go home and check my statements. It was at this point that I reverted to the arrogant 18 year old and old him that if he cold not operate the banks’ computer system, then to find some job that he was capable of … or words to that effect!
He found some one that could do as I succinctly ...

Advantages: I can check my balance or whether a payment has gone out without leaving the house. I can also set up a full months bill payments in one go. Disadvantages: I still have to go to town to get money out - unfortunately I can't see a solution to this problem
I have used the lloydstsbonlinebanking service for about 18 months and find it wonderful. I signes up online and was given a number to ring to get my account no. I was asked 2 questions about recent transactions which I could not answer as they had been done by my husband that same day so I had to wait for a letter to take to the bank to prove who I was. I wasn't happy about this at the time but can see why these checks need to be made. My number arrived a few days later and I have never looked back.
I do all my bill payments online, print out statements and transfer money between my accounts. I can check how much is in my account anytime which saves unnecessary journeys into town if I am waiting for a cheque to clear.
I can also check up on who is authorised to take money out of my account(direct debit or standing orders ...

Advantages: Pay bills quickly and effeciently Disadvantages: akward to set up
Any user of lloydsTSB's onlinebanking service will have noticed that they have started giving away a rough guide to the internet. Surely this is a little bit late! Surely anyone using this sort of service will have weighed up the safety aspect before enrolling signing upto this service?
The disadvantage to this site is that you have to be a lloydstsb customer before using there service. Surely if you were a major high street bank, you would want people to sign upto your onlinebanking service ONLINE and not expect them to think 'hmmm this internet bank seems like a good idea .... i think ill go the high street branch tommorow and open an account to sign up for it'!
None the less, the servivce it does provide is efficient if a little bit akward if you want to do anything like set up a payment as this entails a call to there phone ...

Advantages: Many branches, deposits easily made Disadvantages: Sometimes the shear size cannot deal with individuals across depts
dept insisted no such offer is or was available unless you applied on-line. I resorted to my bank manager, and a letter was written which took more than 28 days to be responded to.
Anyway, they insisted that there was no recourse for me at card services, and even my own branch manager thought card services' approach unhelpful. The only reason I went into the branch was because my loan was processed by my manager, I mean, why would anyone sign up in the branch knowing that online you would get a better deal. But Card services did not budge just out of principal. Eventually, they gave me 3 months insisting it was a good will gesture rather than them accepting guilt.
LloydsTSB, generally have a lot to offer and they do tend to reward loyalty systamatically. But I have noticed that you must generally keep all activities ...
