I am a customer of Lloyds TSB and I like to check my account most days to ensure the credits and debits are correct as I have had some past problems, so needless to say I was pretty pleased when they introduced internet banking, as previously I was using the automated phonebank, and I always like to see facts in figures in front of me, so the internet is a preferable option.
The website address is www.lloydstsb.com, or www.lloydstsb.co.uk, and you log in or register from the home page for either personal or business banking. When you register you have to choose a password and after confirming your registration via a freephone number, about 3-4 days later you will receive written confirmation through the post with a user ID.
To log onto your account you enter your user ID and password and off you go.
The first page that comes up shows the account(s) that you hold, the account number and sort code and the present balance and you just click on whichever one you want.
Then you are taken to a page which has the following options:
ACCOUNT LIST: Duplicates the account details seen on the 1st page.
ACCOUNT DETAIL: Shows account balance and available funds, and the amount of any overdraft you may or may not have.
STATEMENT: Shows all credits and debits, and this is where you can print off your own mini statement. I have started to doing this and keeping them for my own records, as once a new statement page is started on screen, you cannot go to the previous page.
MAKING A PAYMENT: You need to choose ARRANGEMENTS in order to set up or delete a bill payment or pay a bill whose details are held on your account. PAYMENTS DUE will tell you when any of these are due.
STANDING ORDERS: View or amend standing order details.
Mostly view only, and you cannot order a chequebook online or cancel direct debits, so you will still find the need to use the branch a lot.
***UPDATE*** You can also get a home or motor insurance quote on this site, and an extra feature means that when you log out of your account there is a link which takes you to Amazon.co.uk, and a special offer of chart CD's for £8.99 especially for LloydsTSB customers.
5TH MAY - You can also now apply for a credit card and personal loan online, and the process is very simple and straightforward.

I would have rated this very helpful if you had provided some information on their service and customer satisfaction. Without that, it's just a list of features which I guess anyone could read in the online manual or something like that.
Advantages: Pay bills without visiting the bank, online statements, transfer money between your accounts Disadvantages: Statements sometimes a few days behind
Advantages: Track account movements and transfer instantly between accounts. Apply for e-savngs account. Disadvantages: Access code device doesn't work overseas
Advantages: They will extend your overdraft without your prior knowledge or permission Disadvantages: That overdraft will then cost you darely should you ever fall into financial difficulties
Advantages: I can check my balance or whether a payment has gone out without leaving the house. I can also set up a full months bill payments in one go. Disadvantages: I still have to go to town to get money out - unfortunately I can't see a solution to this problem

Review of LloydsTSB
Advantages: A hard copy statement can be printed out. Disadvantages: No identification of who has been paid, or paid you, although this information is provided in the normal monthly statement sent by post.
