I have been with Lloyds TSB for many years, and have to say that, for the most part, they have been pretty good with me, but the purpose of this opinion is not to rate TSB, rather to rate their internet banking service.
Joining is pretty straight forward, you fill out an on-line form, and Lloyds TSB susequently send you a form in the post with your personal details and activation code. This is assuming that you are already a TSB customer.
Once your account is active, each time you log on you are asked for your code, your password, and another question based on information that you have supplied previously. When you log on make sure no one is watching, because they could access your account, the results being obvious. After you have finished ensure that you log off for the same reason.
The web-site itself looks a little boring, but is, in fact, very easy to navigate and use.The range of features is very impressive, and include the following:
Check your accounts balance in real time Transfer money between accounts Pay bills on-line Apply for loans and credit cards Apply for or increase your overdraft facilities Print or download your statements Back-track your statements Check how much you have available if you have paid cheques into your account. You see exactly when they have cleared. This is a great feature when things are tight.
The range of facilities enable the customer to check their account at any time thus ensuring that you are always in full control of your finances.
I am assured that the site is extremely safe, with state of the art encryption used.
Another useful feature is the ability to swap accounts, making sure that you have the right account type at the right time.
You can also access other products, such as insurance, sold by the bank.
After having used this service for maybe 4 months, I can honestly say that I don't know how I managed with out it.The ability to transfer cash can save embarassing situations from happening, not to mention charges from the bank.It is also great to be able to see how much dosh you have ( or haven't!) in the bank, at any time, from the comfort of your chair.
Lyoyds TSB Internet Banking is a great service, and I would heartily recommend it to anyone.

I have been using Lloyds TSB internet banking for over a year now and although you state that it's available 24 hours a day it's actually only available between 4am to 12pm, otherwise a detailed and informative op.

I use this for my work account but have to say I have one gripe. We have four different accounts and I've been trying to get the fourth set up to do online for the past three months!!! No joy from Lloyds
Advantages: Track account movements and transfer instantly between accounts. Apply for e-savngs account. Disadvantages: Access code device doesn't work overseas
Advantages: They will extend your overdraft without your prior knowledge or permission Disadvantages: That overdraft will then cost you darely should you ever fall into financial difficulties
Advantages: I can check my balance or whether a payment has gone out without leaving the house. I can also set up a full months bill payments in one go. Disadvantages: I still have to go to town to get money out - unfortunately I can't see a solution to this problem

Review of LloydsTSB
Advantages: A hard copy statement can be printed out. Disadvantages: No identification of who has been paid, or paid you, although this information is provided in the normal monthly statement sent by post.
