I have been a customer of LloydsTSB for years but not through choice and I certainly wouldn't recommend them. I had an overdraft with them that I would have almost paid up now if it wasn't for the continuous charges they keep adding to my account despite the fact they I am not in any financial situation to pay but have been struggling to pay them regardless.
I was in an agreement with them that they would keep my overdraft open as long as I regularly paid them £6 per month, even though I was desparately looking for work and had to borrow it from another overdraft just to keep them off my back.
Then, before christmas, they removed the overdraft and now are threatening to add a monthly fee of £15, additional daily fees of £20 per day for 10 days in a month as long as I am over my overdraft and an interest charge.
I have been paying them the £6 a month through 2007, without fail, in a desparate effort to clear the debt and they are going to charge me more money in one month than I have been able to afford to pay them in the whole year.
I wrote to them in November, as soon as they sent me a letter telling me they were going to rescind on our agreement and remove the overdraft, in effect making me overdrawn on my account. I told them that my financial situation had got no better. I'm at university and although I get a maintenance loan, I have to pay my tuition fees out of that so am left with very little indeed.
They did not respond at all to my letter. I am now having to write to them again, repeating myself and enclosing the previous letter. I feel really sick because even if I work all the hours I can through Summer I doubt I will be able to earn enough to pay it off especially as there will be over £1200 added in fees by then and they'll do the same to me again once the Summer is over and I go back to uni.
I wish I had read around on the internet and realised how incredibly nasty this bank is before I joined . I recommend that anyone do a bit of research on LloydsTSB before you join. They are great to you when you borrow but once you get into difficulties they will do their best to make sure they keep you that way so they can keep you hooked.
I phoned their "collection agency" in Brighton today and they won't even let me pay my debt. They refuse to accept the maximum that I can afford back despite the fact that my financial situation has not changed since we first made an agreement last year. They removed the agreement I had made, just so that they could add extra charges to my account and force the amount that I have to pay up.
I take back what I said about them being nasty, they are worse, they are just evil and don't care about their customers at all. I hate them.
Once I have left university and I get a good salary I will never touch ANY LloydsTSB product again and will recommend that my family and friends do likewise.

Advantages: Track account movements and transfer instantly between accounts. Apply for e-savngs account. Disadvantages: Access code device doesn't work overseas
Advantages: I can check my balance or whether a payment has gone out without leaving the house. I can also set up a full months bill payments in one go. Disadvantages: I still have to go to town to get money out - unfortunately I can't see a solution to this problem
