~On The Front Line~
The front page greets you with news about everything anything to do with Leeds United. What the players and manager think about what is on the horizon, match results and transfer speculation can be found amongst the articles on the front page. The 2 latest stories have a little paragraph to draw you in (much like here on ciao) as ... ...by their titles.
Although the writing on the web site may not be imaginative, funny or spectacular, what the writing does provide is the cold hard facts that people want to know, and in the end that is what you want on your clubs web site. What’s the point in having a hilarious report if you still don't know hat is happening at the end of it *cough*DEANO76*cough*.
Well the new season is upon us, (or it may be speeding to us on the horizon depending when I finish this), so what better time to write about sports? Well this opinion is not strictly about sports, more about a sports web site. Yes, my favourite football teams web site is about to come under the micro scope as I review... lufc.com (or lufc.co.uk as it is registered on here)

~Like A Shadow~
The left hand side of the page stay the same no matter what part of the site you go on. It contains an advert or 2, most probably for a new Leeds shirt or lutv (more on that later), but also a site map which, if you use it wisely, will take you anywhere you would wish to visit on the site, from Player Information to Just about anything in the clubs history. It also uses drop down menus. Instead of clicking on a link and being taken to a web site and having to wait longer, you simply click on, lets say 'League Tables' then more options drop down like '1st Team', 'Reserve', 'Ladies'.
~You're A Bore~
Rather than painstakingly going into every last detail about everything on the site I will just tell you this: it is in depth. It may not describe everything as much as you wish it could, but the site contains just about everything to do with our club. Even the Leeds United PLC has it's own website on here containing information about it's turn over, public statements etc. Don't expect long, 6-page essays, but rather short, informative bursts about anything you could wish for.
~Are you Game for a Game of these Games, James?~
The 2 games that available to play on the website are nothing to write home about, but they are quite fun the first time you play them. Video ball makes you throw a ball against a pong-like paddle as many times as you can in a minute (25 is my record), and 'winning post' is trying to encourage you to gamble with Lufc.com by backing horses that names like 'Duberry well' and 'Lucas that' (names of Leeds players) with some imaginary money. Neither have anything to do with football, but it does provide some fun nevertheless
~I Just Gotta Get A Message To You~
The message board is quite lively, but never spectacular. I feel that a chat room would be a better option because message boards are often quite annoying as you wait for people to reply to you rather than have a straight reply.
~Grahams' Polls~
They have some quite good topics for you to vote about on the site. When O' Leary was sacked, the topic about a new manager arose. It also helps give the men at the board indications about what the fans think. The latest poll is a blatant attempt at trying to gather information about Leeds' fan base. Why else would they ask where you are viewing the site from when the new season is just about to start?
~Love UTV~
LUTV is a great part of this site, but is mostly for hardened fans. On LUTV is every single Leeds goal since around 1992, which is every Leeds fanatics dream. It also gives interviews with players and the manager. Unfortunately you have to pay for the privilege of going on, which is around £20 a season. I think that Broadband would also be a good addition to use this part of the site.
~Running Commentary~
Last season the Leeds site gave almost LIVE commentary from the Leeds match from a local radio station. Injured or banned Leeds players often gave a helping hand, and Robbie Fowlers appearance still lives in my mind as he recollected stories about his time at Liverpool. I have no idea whether will provide this FREE service this season, but hopefully they will as it is excellent for people who live, like me, in place mostly populated by other fans and radio stations who don't care about Leeds.
~Other Aspects~
There are a lot more things on the website of which I am unable to comment on as I have not used them. Why would a 14 year old go on the 'travel' section of the site? I am not going to pretend that I have, or ever will use most parts of the site as most of them are for people older than me and Leeds fans with money.
~Speed~
No, Leeds have not started dabbling in drugs, am talking about how fast the site loads, which, most of the time is fast. Some of the time you have to load 'flash site' which may take a while if you have a modem, but other than that, the site is mostly speedy.
~Design~
The Leeds sites layout is pretty easy to get to grips with and you get used to it after only 1 or 2 visits to it. The colours and how everything is laid out could be more exciting, but this would sacrifice how easy it is to get to just about anywhere on it.
~Overall~
A fantastic website and MUST be made the homepage for any Leeds fan who wants to know everything as it happens. And yes, it is as good as our world class team.
Advantages: The new headlines are updated everyday Disadvantages: Not many free LUTV highlights
~~~~~UPDATED~~~~~~~
The official Leeds United site is excellent for all you need to know about Leeds United and for all the latest news on one of the brightest teams in England.
With daily news updates it supplies you with all the latest news and access to interviews with players and the management team.
Its interactive menu is fairly limited with only a couple of wallpapers and games available to you but the facts and history towards Leeds United ... ...from their fixtures for this current season or any results going back to past seasons such 1999/01.
Also you can follow Leeds United's European campaign this season, and re-live Leeds magical Champions League challenge in 2000/01 in which they reached the semi-finals of the competition but beating teams such as AC Milan, Lazio and Deportivo.
For a starter of Leeds United or a life long supporter of the club the site is brimming with information ...
Advantages: Good Multimedia Content Disadvantages: Looks very drab
Despite a recent re-design, the official Leeds United web site still lacks something in class and fancy bits and bobs… For a team that is generally regarded as one of the top 4 in the country and for a team who is currently in the quarter finals of the worlds premier club competition in the European Champions League, I think it is fair to expect a quality or at least semi-quality web site to reflect the teams on field performances. But in all ... ...the old style, but then again that is not saying much… The Live audio commentary from the matches has recently been made free, and a service called LUTV shows a brand new video each day. These are the only things that make this site stand out from any of the others. Other than that, the layout is poor and the news is not exactly presented in a quality way… However, this site is by far the poorest official football site on the Internet. ...
Advantages: All you need to know about Leeds United Disadvantages: Webmasters dont work weekends!!!
I'm a massive Leeds United fan, and the Leeds website before they edited and changed it was brilliant! It wasn't just briliant for Leeds fans, but it was good for anybody who wanted to find out Information about the club, as users didn't have to sign up to gain access to all the free areas.
Now... it's just an average football club website...
You had a link to free live match commentary before, now you have to pay as it is part of the oh so poor ... ...his home PC before Sky busted him!
When you visit it... it's a good front page, ofter advertising offers at the club shop, or tickets for games, and the main index page is pretty good, but everything is all over the site instead of being on the left.
It took my a long time to get to grips with, and alot of fans did not like it, but seen as though we had no say in the matter, we had to learn to live with it and get used to it. It's just an average ...
Advantages: Covers a whole lot of information about Leeds Disadvantages: None
I visited Leeds website and I thought this was ok not one of the best football websites. The presentation is good and it's got a reasonable amount of information.
They have a online shop which is ok,their Replica Kits sizes start from 3 months old to XXL, this is the only football website that sizes start from 3 months old in Replica Kits. Prices for Replica Kits range from £25.00-£40.00.
Of Elland Road they have pictures, history and Tour. The ... ...for under 16's.
Club history great players, great games and history right back to 1919. There is no picture's but loads and loads of paragraph's one after the other it just goes on and on.
Team information has personnal stats which includes D.O.B, Height, Birthplace, Squad Number, Postition, Date signed, Signed from, Transfer fee, Career stats and a very detailed write up of each player. ...
