I have had my "@name.com" mail address since 1998, I signed up friends and famly to the service, shunning hotmail and yahoo for thier well known problems and leaks.
First the company becam Mail.com, and I feared for the future, I was right, after converting the mail.com users to subscription, they are now doing the same to iname. Bye bye !
IF they would guarantee a failsafe service, I might subscribe. But they cant, and while I will put up with the occasional missing mail, or route important stuff to my isp account directly (thus removing the need for a redirect) if I am paying for a service, I expect it to work without error. I dont use on line mail storage, and have never understood why they had to provide it for redirecting accounts.
IF there was some spam filtering offered, I might subscribe, but I am not paying to fill my inbox with unwanted spam. So I am jumping ship and reverting to my isp account.
I think Yahoo will see a drop in its popularity (but will never be honest enough to say so, the dot com world relies so heavily on hype) and I believe that Mail.com will go the same way, keep in mind that they dont have the income from the other activities that yahoo does to sustain it.
