It was a well known make, Mamas and papas, was in my price range and was part of a set so that was it I had to have it. The cot bed cost £325 if you buy straight from Mamas and papas. I had my little girl back in the summer and 2003. Like all parents you want the best for the them and if its first you find you buy everything on the market and half it you do not need. When I was looking for some where for my little girl to sleep I had to decide what she was going to sleep in from where she born, wither a mosses basket, crib or cot. I ruled out a crib and mosses basket virtually straight away, mainly for what they cost and how long they are in there for, so I opted for a cot. Then I had to decide if I was going to get a cot or a cot bed. I did not realise how many choices there is out there. As my daughter was going to be in her on room from day one I thought I might as well go for a cot bed as it did not matter had big her cot was going to be as it as not going to be in my room anyway. Also I found that there was not much difference between prices of cots and cot beds.
I wanted; if I could afford it, get a cot bed that came with matching furniture so I looked everywhere, shops, internet and catalogues. I knew what I wanted something bright and modern looking. I came across a few cot beds before I came across this one, once I saw this I knew I had to it. You know when you see something and you don't even bother to look at the price and just set your heart on something that was I was like when I saw this.

It was a well known make, Mamas and papas, was in my price range and was part of a set so that was it I had to have it. The cot bed cost £325 if you buy straight from Mamas and papas. Though if you look around your find the price can vary and you may be able to get it a bit cheaper by about £50 by looking around on the net. Though the price of this cot I feel is reflected in the quality of the cot as it looks and feels solid. Mine is over 2 and half years old and is still going strong and still looks lovely. It is made from maple with chrome corners in each corner of the cot and the feet are cylinder shape and are painted silver. The silver paint on the feet has had a few paint cracks in them but nothing serious. It has the modern look to it, light in colour and simple looking and with none of this fancy deigns in the wood or in the style of the cot.
It comes flat pack, like most furniture with a set of instructions. It did not take long to and my Dad had the cot up for me in no time as the instructions were pretty easy to follow. Remember to put these instructions away safely so when you go to convert the cot to bed you know how to do it correctly and quickly. I taped mine to the two pieces I was left with, which are used when it is converted from a cot to a bed and stored them under the cot.
My little girl was in the cot bed from day one, it looked massive compared to her. So that I could her feet could be at the bottom I turned her round so that she was one end of the cot and her feet was touching the side of the cot bed. This way she was safe and I did not have to fork out for a crib or a mosses basket.
It has three settings for the base, which is slat base. Depending on how quickly your child develops and how tall they are depends when you need to change the setting of the base. My little girl was managing to sit herself up by 6 months so we moved to the middle setting and she could pull herself up to stand up by about 9 months so that was when it was moved to the lowest settings. The sides do not come down and does not have a teething rail. Luckily for me my little girl did not chew the cot when she was teething as she had teething toys in her cot at all times to help avoid this. If you are a short person or have a back problem I would advise you not to buy this cot as you may have trouble getting your child out once they are quiet big.
When buying your cot bumper make sure it fits properly as the one I had was always falling down. Also be careful with some cot mobiles as due to wide, gaps bewteen the slates 6cm. The side slates are 4cm wide.
When it converts into a bed the sides come off and the ends half in height. To fill in all holes they provide little covers but make sure you put them safe and remember where you put them as I have no idea where my ones are, I should have taped them to the two pieces of the bed like I did with the instructions. Though you now have to store the 2sides and half of each end, though these stay as 4 big pieces so if you have are quiet easy to store, mine I have just slid under my bed.
The cot is easy to clean, just wipe it down with a damp cloth, that's all it needs.
The size of the cot bed is D149cm x W82cm x H94.5cm when it is set as cot. A standard cot bed mattress will fit. When it is a bed the mattress is a height of 48cm and the ends are at a height of 63cm. My little girl has never had any problem getting in out of the bed so I feel it is the best height for children of her age.
When it is set a cot it is quiet hard to store things under it and this cot does not come or neither can you buy one of those storage roller draw to go underneath. Though I could slide packets of nappies underneath, so as I stocked piled on nappies when they were on special offer I had somewhere to store them. There is a gap between the base and the cot sides so you can get a valance or just put a sheet over the base hanging down so you can hide anything you are storing under the cot. Since I have turned her cot in to a bed bed I have managed to find storage boxes that slide with lids under her bed and there is still room under there to store other things next to the boxes. The boxes need to be less than 20cm in height to fit under the bed.
Mine has only broken once, the base fell out of place, though this was nothing to do with me little girl but with her Dad. He was mess around and jumped on the base. None of the slates broke just one of the corner fixings came out. Pretty easy to fix and has not broken since and we still sit at the edge of the bed when reading her a bed time story.
In this collection there is also a wardrobe, dresser with three draws and door, toy box, tall boy, bookcase, cot top changer and shelf.
I feel this cot is more of a luxury cot bet rather than a necessary but is worth paying that little bit extra if you can afford it.
