Very poor customer service on faulty items. Even if the product is faulty when you get home they will not replace or refund you. Maplin policy is to send broken items to head office for inspection, this takes a long time, at least two weeks. Even then getting a refund is like getting blood from a stone. I brought an item from Maplin that cost £180, it was faulty and didn't look new (had a dirty label stuck on it with some sort of code in handwriting). ... ...was told they can't do that. I would have to have it sent back and wait two weeks for them to see if it really was faulty, then they would probably repair it. I can understand this policy for items that are several months old, but for new items? Surely it is their fault they sold me a faulty item and they should replace it quickly and without fuss. I'm still waiting for a replacement. ...

Appalling, I bought a battery charge and 9 batteries. My wife had also bought rechargeable batteries, so i did not need the batteries. £30 worth. i returned to the store half and hour later to be told that, although their receipt states 28 days refund if unopened etc, their terms and conditions in the catalogue state that it is at the managers discretion. Sales were obviously down the day i went in, the manager refused to issue a refund stating i ... ...in. They were sealed packs that have to be cut open, when i pointed this out and asked him to show me how i can open them and then put the batteries back i was told ' i don't have to show you anything and i don't have to give you a refund if i don't want to'. I phoned customer service who spoke to the manager to be told that they can't make the manager issue a refund as will reduce his sales for the store.
i will never use Maplin again and reccomend ...

I placed an order for the Humax Foxsat PVR. They took my money from me immediately and I was told a delivery on the 10th or 11th Dec 08. The information was provided on the basis that I was within the first 40 orders of which they had 40 units in stock, guaranteed delivery by DHL they said! On the 12th Dec they deny all knowledge of my delivery and now I am unliklely to get a PVR until after Xmas. It appears I am not the only customer who has received poor on line service from Maplin. I would advise you steer clear and use a more reputable retailer. ...

Maplin is good provider of electronic items at competitive prices, their shops are great, however I fear they have used cheap and inadequate systems to run their online shop. Firstly their payment system is very unstable on one order it crashed on me about 5-6 time, claiming some type of server error. In the end I gave up that day and tried a couple of days later. There payment system crashed a 4-5 times more before if finally went through.
The ... ...have now been dispatched, except not to the dispatch address, but to the billing address. After entering my details enough time for my browser to remember them, I'm positive the fault lies with them. To cap it all off, when I phone customer services the response was the system has not shown a dispatch address, your item has been dispatched there is nothing we can do. ...

Sent items back via post office with proof of postage as asked, 1 parcel (the keyboard) went missing now they refuse to pay me my £400 order value, as although the post office ticket shows 2 items, they say that how do they know I didn't split the DVDs over 2 boxes and return just that order.
They can't say that is ... ...They refuse to let me speak to this manager (he sits making decisions in the background), and so far have not responded to any emails.
Have resorted to taking legal action to get money back as they seem to operate in their own world of fantasy.
If you are looking for cheap items with no real value and can get them in store then fine go ahead there's little to no risk involved, if however your looking to buy on-line or buy anything with significant ...
